This will meet your basic needs, as will others for less money. Just beware of "deals" with Android 2.2, etc. You need 4.0...unless you want to get into the murky world of "rooting" and modifying your unit. How much is the cheapest iPad2? There are TONS of games and stuff for FREE that (in my opinion) look better on the iPad. You don't need 64 GB.

However, if you are going to load up with downloaded videos, etc, the Android system will free you up to do that more easily.

I don't think you'll be using WIFI in your car to watch YouTube.

This should have Google Play, Even if it does not, you can access the Google App market via your browser. I've actually found this to be a more stable way to get apps.

I got the refurbed a500 instead - larger screen. Do you really want to spend countless hours staring at 7 inch screen? You can find refurbed a500 for 200 at secondipity. I purchased one directly from Acer an another from this outfit, and both were shipped from the same city and came in the same packing, so assuming both originate thru Acer.

Comparing this to the Lenovo Ideapad A1 which I could get from Amazon, new, for $170. Smaller screen and single core, but has two cameras and GPS. Running Gingerbread but the message boards say ICS is on its way.

Acer makes a great product. I used to sell computers and I never had one returned. Heck they make a laptop for the Ferrari race team. They make great products with no extra things that you end up needing to remove. If I were in need of a tablet I would definitely be in for one.

the a200 is also 10".

Does anyone know if this is flash enabled?? I know the Ipad isn't and for me would be the deal breaker. Thanks.

I bought one of these several months ago - at considerably more money - and I love it. I use it at home, and when I travel I tether it to my smart phone for email and internet.
I keep a lot of books on it, and read a lot too.

Really a great tablet!

FoxFi will make most Android phones a WiFi hotspot. Then just connect via WiFi on the Acer. I am not sure why you want to tether via a cable, but I checked in a few forums and you can connect to your phone via wire, WiFi or Bluetooth. (Use PDANet from Google Play).

Advantages:
10.1", 1280x800 ... Very Nice screen
Tegra 2 ... Quite Good not Great
1GB RAM ... Above avg

Disadvantages:
No GPS
No rear camera
Front camera only 0.3 MP
No 3G / 4G cellular data

Thanks, for the info. The reason is, Sprint charges an additional 30 bucks a month if you want your phone to be a hot spot. Easy Tether was 10 bucks on sale one time payment. If I'm were there isn't a hot spot I can tether my laptop to my phone. It would be nice to be able to do that with the tablet.

Check out FoxFi. It works on most phones even unrooted....it bypasses Sprint.

You are right on the Honeycomb, but I would have to disagree with Gingerbread or Froyo. For a tablet, Honeycomb introduced a lot of tablet friendly features that for something like a Xoom are a benefit. I notice a big difference in tablet usability when I go back from my ICS Transformer to my Gingerbread G-Tab or Dell Streak from work.

I resisted the HP tabs and regretted it. Not gonna let this one slip by, in fer one! I was saving for a new Glock... Damn u woot!!

Archos makes a product that cannot be counted on. the quality is poor. (or at least inconsistent). I am sure if you bought it during the sale here on Woot! you read the scathing reviews given by users.

Acer at least makes a consistently above average device.

I bought mine for browsing the web on the couch, so my expectations are pretty basic. I don't need the HDMI, so it's been great for my needs.

I can't agree more on the AC adapter only part. I have a 7 inch tablet that is the same way. Also, the plug is so small that it feels like it's break.

Newer to this and been debating all night between this and the galaxy tab 2, i dont care about the size that much, in the hospital, want to skype, watch full length episodes of tv shows from websites, play games, surf the web and watch netflix, any opinions?

Also, what is the guarantee/warenty/return policy for these things? (Sorry, as i sai, new to this)

My rooted Xoom is running beautifully on the AOSP Ice Cream Sandwich ROM. Yes, my warranty is technically void, but my Asurion insurance policy that comes along with my 3G contract for a pittance isn't.

Are there any 10" tablets that charge via USB (at least at an acceptable rate)? USB data ports can normally supply 2.5 Watts, with some capable of 4.5W. Chargers can provide up to 7.5W. By comparison, my 10" Thrive has a 28W charger.

Re: location, originally it was routers mapped by Google's Street View cars. Now, however, when an Android device has "Use Google Location Services" enabled, it's reporting its location and the hotspots it sees to Google. Most Android phones do have GPS, and can report this information very accurately.

Apple does the same thing.
