I guess the price difference has to do with the screen size. Darn! And here I was hoping that Woot was taking a bold new, "Choose your own price" approach to online shopping.

it seems that the smaller one is more expensive?

Smaller one has larger, faster hard rive.

Only 2GB RAM and 250 GB HD on the 15"? Sorry, not much of a deal. And why did they even bother with Windows 7 64 bit on this thing? Come on Woot! It's Father's Day!

The 14" Lenovo has a larger, faster hard drive and comes with Windows Professional (as opposed to Windows Home Premium).

Excuse me if this has been discussed already, I don't read comments every day.

Has anyone else noticed that since the site was upgraded that everything here is a lot more expensive? I don't think I've seen anything under $100 recently. It really sucks. I mostly come here for the cheap deals I used to see. I'm sure there are still decent deals but I'm not up for shelling out hundreds of dollars at at time. I hope things get back into the cheaper range soon or I'll probably stop coming around so much.

That and the comments are more difficult to get to. I know it's just a couple of clicks, but I find other people's comments more interesting than half the stuff on the front page.

14" and 15.6" have the same resolution? 1.6" larger and still 1366 x 768 resolution?

Somebody please double check that.

Don't bother with any screen resolution of less than 800 pixel in height.

A pitiful Fathers-day woot!

I have the 15.6" from WOOT on 06/04/2012, bumped the RAM to 8 GB, too & it took the WINSAT from 3.7 to 4.3... very nice for the overall price !! My Skype'N /w the Lenovo X100e or X120e from WOOT, too flow much smoother, now !! although I like the Keyboard area on the X series better..

Apparently this puts someone's panties in a bunch, but Edge series are to Thinkpads what McDonald's is to gourmet food.

Don't expect easily swappable components, a rollcage or a Centrino chipset. I can't advise spending this much on an undervolted Athlon with Llano and Trinity out there. You do get a trackpoint though, albeit on a chiclet keyboard (I disavow any knowledge of the new gen T, W or X series).

It's been 20 years, I am going to copy that floppy.

The worth of a quality post has diminished since they only show one of the top comments at a time now.

How about a quick and dirty review over at PC World?

Or some 17 odd reviews at cnet?

This laptop seems to not really wow them at cnet...

.....Do you have a screw driver and the ability to put a rectangular peg in a rectangular hole at a 45 degree angle and push down? For 50 bucks or less you can get that to 8 gb of ram

Love the subtle mistakes.

Your and you're mix-up, southmore instead of sophomore, pre-Madonna instead of prima donna, fullproof instead of foolproof, regress instead of digress, youthanism instead of euphemism, feeble instead of fetal, and chuck instead of chock.

Did I miss any?

Duuh.... the 14" has Win 7 Professional. Seems it is a Business line model. More compact = more expensive when trying to pack in the same features. Who in their right mind wants to travel 3 weeks out of the 4 per month, packing a 15.6" or 17" widescreen laptop in their carryon luggage? Not familiar with this actual model, but the 14" might be a true business line laptop that is built on a business line chassis... aka... an imfamous TRUE THINKPAD. Those were build tougher to last longer...

Coming from working on computers & lots of experience, I avoid most any retail PC/Laptops nowadays. They are built to self distruct a lot quicker than the business models.

Esp the pc/laptops that are sold @ Best Buy.... avoid at all cost. They are designed to have a BB ext-warranty put on them... They are built cheaper so that the Geek Squad can find a way to void your expensive warranty. So they then can quote double to fix it for than what you paid for the laptop, so they look like you savior when they are 'understanding' & knock 10% off another new over priced POS & sell you the same useless warranty all over! ....That's their game... knew too many who worked in all aspects of BB to ever desire to shop or get service done there....

The reason Geek Squad is really there isn't to be there fore you! It's not to fix computers, it's to force people into more unecessary repeat sales faster than they ever should have to & sell expensive add ons that cost them little more than a few pennies on the dollar...

Sad that they brainwash their employees so much to think that they are actually providing clueless soccer moms an awesome buying experience, when they are really taking them for a really crappy ride....

Wow... that post went way off track... but true.... BUT MY POINT IS: Stick w/ non retail laptops if possible & ALWAYS LOOK TO WOOT & SQUARETRADE for HONEST & AWESOME DEALS!!

Thanks, been there...done that. Some days are ok but overall it just isn't the same. I want the crazy crap we used to get and some cheaper deals now and then without having to click 15 times to find them.

I really wanted a sonic screwdriver or some self sealing stem bolts. Alas, not this Father's Day.
