Lenovo specifies nearly every amd graphics chip as discrete/dedicated even on the fusion (where it really is integrated). Intel means integrated!... but I get where you're coming from there.

See...what a perfect example.... Woot, you have been @ this for how long?

ThunderThighs shouldn't always have to go bailing out the team this often! It's not like we are still in Beta mode, but then again looking @ the Woot servers, maybe we always have been....

Also, this isn't a bells & whistles laptop.

BUT for all of you guys on the fence, from what I have seen, Lenovo reliability & repair rates are substantially better than anything Acer/Gateway/Emachine & most HP's too.

All of the machines have tons of similar outsourced parts that can easily fail, regardless of laptop manufacturer.

But, I've seen hundreds of HP & Lenovo machines deployed side by side & the Lenovo clearly wins.

I don't get nearly as many callbacks for problems & I rarely see a Lenovo MB failure....especially a design failure unlike HP's multiple 'what were they smoking' design failures....

I work at a computer repair place. We have just as many Lenovo laptops as any other brand, HP, Dell or otherwise. I agree they have somehow been able to maintain a good company image and I have yet to really hear a story where Lenovo had bad service. However the idea that they fail any less than the rest is a fallacy. I'd be interested to see some 3rd party statistics though. As someone who frequents dealnews.com I can say this woot deal is mediocre at best. I can think of 5 laptop deals that I've seen in the past 2 weeks that are better than this, and 2 of them cheaper. 1 was an HP ProBook for $430. That's a business class laptop.
As someone who fixes laptops, for the love of all that is good, PLEASE do not buy a laptop/PC with windows 7 and less than 4GB of RAM. RAM is cheap and works wonders when you have enough of it. My netbook from 3 years ago had 2GB of RAM, save yourself some trouble and avoid anything less. As someone stated earlier its super easy on most laptops to upgrade the RAM yourself though you can find great deals that come with 4GB already.

Usually, the larger the laptop, the higher the price. Though in this case, the 14" gets a larger and faster hard drive and Win 7 Pro, which is the real reason this laptop is more expensive. Pro costs $100 more than Home Premium.

But I wouldn't buy either one. Both have no USB 3.0 or Bluetooth. I would rather have those than the DVD drive. Practically, no one uses a DVD drive nowadays and almost any media can be downloaded or stored on USB flash drives. And if you're going to get a 15.6" or higher laptop, get one that has a full keyboard (aka, numeric keypad).

Yes, these are a little on the heavy side, but 15.6" or 17" are not that heavy. The 15.6" is about 6 lbs and 17" is around 10 lbs. You carried around 15 to 20 lbs of books in high school and college. If you can't carry a 6 or 10-lb lappy, you're out of shape.

Bottom line: These laptops are not bad for office productivity, video watching, and playing low to mid-resolution games. But the prices could be lower. And if you lose or break one of these, you won't feel too bad, unless you had naughty pics of your ex-gf stored and didn't back them up.

AMD Turion chips produce a lot of heat. I had an HP laptop with a Turion chip and I HAD to use a laptop cooler pad or it would have burned me. Even the wrist-rest area would get too hot to use. A few weeks ago, the CPU simply stopped working (according to the error code I got when the laptop stopped POSTing) after only 3 years. I would caution against getting any Turion chip laptop.

Lol... yeah... manufacturers specifically build the models sent to retailers "cheaper" so that they break early, just so the retailer can sell extended service? But if you did by their extended warranty, it's automatically built cheaper simply so that they can find a way to void that warranty?

Is that after the aliens abducted you and the government forced you to remain silent about it?

Brick and mortar stores are provided with the exact same laptops the manufacturers sell elsewhere. There's no conspiracy between the manufacturers (that quite often sell their OWN extended warranty and would rather you by theirs) and the retail stores. Don't be silly.

SquareTrade's warranty is fantastic, and well-priced, but some people (like myself) prefer to pay a premium for local face-to-face service.

Anyways, as for the laptop, this is a decent buy. Certainly a much better purchase than any computer running AMD's "new" E-series processors (300/350/450). This will easily handle basic usage like web browsing/e-mail/facebook/photos/music. Especially if you bring it up to 4 or 8gb of RAM.

Ha! It is your selection. Read feedback from people. (zing!) Father's Day is like a free pass to buy stuff; the wife looks the other way. It is not about getting it by Father's Day.

Woot! use to be in tune with this sort of marketing but not anymore. Woot is losing the cool factor that encouraged me to buy.

Woot! needs another site named Woot.crap where they sell all of the stuff they sell now. This way, Woot.com could go back to what made it cool in the first place.

Also, make the comments easier to get to. The comments, and the prior easy access, are a very valued part of the Woot! experience. Getting to them now is just painful.

Not a fan of the Thinkpad Edge even at this relatively low price. They're still on the heavy side and not to thin either. The Ideapad U series (U310 ~$579 after coupon) starts out at around twice the price, but they're superior (3rd gen Core iseries) to the Edge(s) seen here.

Smart money of course is to hold out for a T430u. I would.

This is the worst laptop I have ever purchased.

1. The screen is horrible: wretched contrast, narrow viewing angle, pixelated, and the auto-dimming feature is a joke.
2. The touchpad is worthless - two finger scrolling takes a WHOLE second to engage.
3. The middle scroll button (used with the nipple) doesn't work on all apps... but it's funny how a mouse scroll wheel works just fine on everything...

The engineers at Lenovo are lazy or incompetent and released a half finished product.

Do not buy. There's a reason why it is so cheap.

I hope things get back into the cheaper range soon or I'll probably stop coming around so much.

I had this computer for about a year and a half. I started having problems with it not charging at about 1y 3mo, and now it won't even turn on anymore. Potentially i just got a bad one, but I'm just warning you.

For a cheap, basic laptop, it's one of the better ones. Other than the later power problem, I never had any problems with it. It also has an hdmi port, and bluetooth, which was nice. If you lower the settings, you can also play games better than I expected.

Overall I would definitely recommend this laptop, although I would recommend also getting an extended warranty if you can find one.
