Lenova is a better built machine so it's going to be a little heavier. Great laptop and very upgradeable. Good buy!

Hauling around 3.9# is not bad if you have a power cord at work and home. This is exactly the X61 replacement I was seeking a few months ago. Could not find Lenovo business model (even refurb) that was lightweight AND included a DVD drive. Battery life is incredible and quickly recovered. BUT - while waiting for a sale just like this - I bought an iPad and now I just watch Netflix or iTunes loaded shows and travel with WiFi and the alternate cellular 3G connection - for 1.46# with 64G (way overkill. I can't think of hauling a laptop - even this nice one - anymore.

If you're thinking about gaming, this laptop isn't it- there's a Lenovo on Newegg for 500 that'll serve as a cheap sub-gamer.

If you're thinking about running office applications for work or school, you could do a lot worse, but there are still better deals out there.

My impressions and experience with this particular model (and similar ones) are that it doesn't do any one thing particularly well, and is mediocre enough overall to look elsewhere.

Hey Woot, I like to check in on some discussions several times a day and I am not always at the same machine. So I can't auto log in and that pop up asking for my info is really getting annoying.

acpress.com Not cute, but useful.

Posted other times they have had edges, so not going to draw this out, but these are NOT the good thinkpads you hear about ... they are crap in comparison. My 15 inch of this model (except it had a core i5) died after 1yr 2 weeks, motherboard failures are common on these. Coming from someone who owns three other thinkpads (T61, T510, and X220) this is NOT in the same class.

Who in their right mind wants to travel 3 weeks out of the 4 per month, packing a 15.6" or 17" widescreen laptop in their carryon luggage? Not familiar with this actual model, but the 14" might be a true business line laptop that is built on a business line chassis... aka... an imfamous TRUE THINKPAD. Those were build tougher to last longer...

Coming from working on computers & lots of experience, I avoid most any retail PC/Laptops nowadays. They are built to self distruct a lot quicker than the business models.

Esp the pc/laptops that are sold @ Best Buy.... avoid at all cost. They are designed to have a BB ext-warranty put on them... They are built cheaper so that the Geek Squad can find a way to void your expensive warranty. So they then can quote double to fix it for than what you paid for the laptop, so they look like you savior when they are 'understanding' & knock 10% off another new over priced POS & sell you the same useless warranty all over! ....That's their game... knew too many who worked in all aspects of BB to ever desire to shop or get service done there....

The reason Geek Squad is really there isn't to be there fore you! It's not to fix computers, it's to force people into more unecessary repeat sales faster than they ever should have to & sell expensive add ons that cost them little more than a few pennies on the dollar...

Sad that they brainwash their employees so much to think that they are actually providing clueless soccer moms an awesome buying experience, when they are really taking them for a really crappy ride....

Wow... that post went way off track... but true.... BUT MY POINT IS: Stick w/ non retail laptops if possible & ALWAYS LOOK TO WOOT & SQUARETRADE for HONEST & AWESOME DEALS!!

Quoted for truth!

Nick, I agree! The real IBM ThinkPads are about the best laptops around. I started with the early T series, the T20. I'm currently running W7 on a T23, and it works as good as XP does.

I've also got the last of the IBM T series, the T60. (Yes, the T61 is also IBM branded. but I got the T60.) THe T6* series was built FOR IBM, by Lenovo, who later took over ThinkPads.

I get used carcasses off of Ebay, and refurbish them and sell them to friends. (That is why I demand a decent brand, because I'm selling them to people I like!)

Real ThinkPads have always stood up to the abuse. Others don't!

What laptop(s) do you recommend for business applications running Windows 7 Pro?

Have you ever tried TANGA.Com? I love that site, They have pretty good deals and if you miss it the 1st time they usually bring it back if it's not sold out.

Accidentally ordered two. Every time I clicked to process my order, I was taken to an error page. I received two e-mails confirming two separate orders, both charging my PayPal account.

How quick is woot to rectify this? Anyone got any experience??

Looks like it was resolved! Now I just have to wait on Paypal to release the funds back to me, but I'll take that up with their customer service department.

Thank you!
