My brother needs to watch this video. He has yet to master microwave popcorn. Always comes out as a big black blob. Maybe because he skips the "three fingers of rye whiskey" step.

So much of this was right on point that you almost don't notice the parts that are just wrong on oh so many levels.

If I cooked microwave popcorn for 3 - 4 minutes, my next step would likely be to call the fire department. At the very least, my kitchen would reek of smouldering nuclear waste for hours.

I set it for 1:30 and call it a day.

Looks like he didn't much enjoy the huge pile of spice he threw on there!

You forgot to mention the importance of not burning the popcorn. Not so much due to the taste issues, but more the hate and discontent it causes at your workplace. Do this more than twice and you are either going to get "let go" or your co-workers are going to have a blanket party in your cubicle. Maybe both.

Randall again looked like he was going to puke. I think the combination of cheap whiskey, mediocre microwave popcorn, and an overdose of cumin did him in. Can we get the out-takes of him running to the rest room? Or did he not make it and just barf in the sink?

Finally, somebody else who pronounces kernel the way I do. I thought I'd been fighting the battle alone. Now, how do you say "colonial"?

Haha awesome. You should have made him spice it with cayenne. I think he would have made a much different face. Just kidding, Chef Llandar!

Thank you!

I now have backup on the stop button.

Just yesterday my son took something out of the microwave by pulling the door open.
He gave me some beluga story about us being surrounded by microwaves from space.
Yeah, but they can't cook my food....or body!

WE LURV YOU TOO! Dork!!!

If your microwave was made after 1960, opening the door automatically shuts off the power and ceases the generation of microwave radiation.

You're safe. Promise.

JUST the box? That's probably doable!

Did you know shirt.woot ships internationally? Get you some!

Enjoyed the film as always, though I was kind of hoping you would be showing us how to make microwave popcorn from scratch! (I suppose we could skip over the building of the microwave part)

it's really that simple.

I swear.

Anyways I really loved this one, from the beginning I was wondering how you'd have Randy.. uhm- enhance the food.
I've only seen the video version of happy snacking, if it hasn't been covered yet I wanna see PB+J!

I been wondering why everyone says microwave popcorn is so easy...

"Remove the plastic wrapper BEFORE putting it in the microwave."

I guess that's why the stuff i make always has a smokey flavor. I might give this recipe a shot!

I wish. The skinny beeotch who stank up the office by burning her microwave popcorn "lunch" nearly every day (and also publicly complained about her "personal" problem--constipation) is probably still there. Thankfully, I was able to move on.

Can I sub cinnamon whiskey for rye or will that cause off flavors in my popcorn?

Also, did you know popcorn bags can catch fire? Don't wander too far while it is in the microwave.

What you need:

-Brown paper lunch bag (You can get a pack of 100 for around $3)

-Popcorn kernels (store-brand works just as well as the expensive kind)

-Butter spray/popcorn spray (Kernel Season's is a good one, but you can also use the butter flavored non-stick cooking spray)

-Seasoning of your choice (I love mixing Kernel Season's Ranch seasoning with a little J&D's Original Bacon Salt :-)

Depending how much you want to make, put 1/4 to 1/3 cup of kernels into the bag. Fold top of bag over two times (you'll have to perfect this according to the size of your microwave, but there should be just enough room for the bag to still be able to rotate)

I always put the timer on 3 minutes, but end up stopping it around 2 minutes or soon thereafter, which is usually when the popping slows down (but again, you'll have to perfect it to your microwave's strength...which means you may slightly burn a few kernels in the beginning).

Pour into a large bowl, then spray the popcorn, add some seasoning, shake bowl and repeat until it's to your liking. Low fat, yummy, and economical. Although this method differs from the Woot method, you may still drink Whiskey if that's your thing. :-)

Next time, homemade microwave potato chips!

J&D's Original Bacon Salt is so good.

mmm...bacon salt! I'd buy.

I no longer go to my "funny bone" bookmark folder of humor sites to get a fix; I just come to woot! (almost every morning). I guess I could add it to my "fine writing" and "cutting-edge video" lists, too. The only drawback is that I'm buying too much. The price we pay for good entertainment...sigh.

Groovin' on the woot!

As an avid fan of both Rye Whiskey and microwave popcorn, I give this a thumbs up.

To do this right, you probably need the inexpensive Jim Beam yellow bottle whiskey. I'll need to get some of that before I try this again.

Go to the J&D site to see if any grocery stores in your area carry it. I couldn't find it anywhere local, so I finally emailed the corporate office of a chain that I shop at regularly, to see if they could get it. One of my lines was, "With this being the SOUTH, I think bacon salt should be a fixture in every grocery store". LOL
They not only wrote me back, but called me to let me know they were meeting with a J&D vendor.

It may not be as cheap as the deals they used to have on Woot, but if you catch it on sale and stock up, you'll be good for a while. The store I shop at had it on sale for $3.14 for a solid month. Now it's back to over $4 a bottle...but even so, I won't have to pay S&H or wait days for it to arrive if I ever need it.

I don't care if you hit Stop or not or about any side effects that you may suffer as a result. But please press Clear or Cancel instead of leaving the last three seconds flashing since you were too impatient to wait on it to finish.

Peanut butter AND jelly? Crazy talk! I think that's a little too complicated for the Happy Snacking! audience. The closest you're likely to get is Peanut Butter Toast, or really rather Peanut Butter Warm.
