Well, how do you fare compared to the Zeitgeist? Chat up your fellow wooters and let us know how lame this poll was or what obvious choices we missed. For example: Was this poll a) STUPID, b) DUMB, c) POINTLESS or d) ALL OF THE ABOVE?

I understand Steve Jobs was pessimistic about the iPod. He didn't think people would give up sound quality for portability. Think about how much you are missing when you only hear the MP3.

Poll doesn't mention YouTube, which is how my kids listen to music. Pity the artists, who I assume get paid little or nothing.

Is it bad that I still listen to a lot of cassettes? I made such great mix tapes!

is MP3 the same as podcasts?

It can be, it depends on the file format. Could be mp3, rm, wma, proprietary itunes format, etc.

Sirius XM for me too. I put "Radio" but I included Sirius in that. Next would be MP3's. I can't get radio signal at work and the job won't let us stream so it's the iPod (or Blackberry Music) or nothing. But I get in an hour of Sirius to and from work or replay a downloaded podcast. But Wooter's are more tech saavy than your average bear so I can understand why Radio was voted so low.

I honestly discover a majority of the artists I listen to today through youtube. It's a good way to discover bands that are up and coming. Not sure if listing a file format makes much sense for this pole though.

Why is vinyl even an option if tape didn't even make the list?

There should be an "Other" category. I listen to XM Satellite in my home and car.

What category does playing your own go in? (Guitar, keyboards...)

I put depends, it would be 90% FLAC at home, and then mostly CD/radio in the car, and MP3 for the other random times

XM/Sirius and MP3 sound horrible! How can you call that music? Do yourself a favor and do some A/B testing with CD's, FLAC, or uncompressed audio and save your hearing while you still can.

Because vinyl has made a comeback, especially in the younger, hipster crowd. Cassettes look to be on their way back too, but I'm guessing the comeback won't be nearly as strong.

Cassette tapes and iPod/Fm transmitter in the car; Youtube/streaming at work; radio almost everywhere. Nice stereo system at home, so CDs mostly there.

I prefer to listen to Vinyl at home. I think the sound quality is much better. Of course you have to have good speakers. I prefer to listen to CD's in the car, or Sirius radio. Walking the dog/hunting I listen to my Ipod. BUT nothing beats my vinyl or reel to reel. That is where the great quality resides I don't care if you are listening to Elton John, Pearl Jam, Beatles, John Mayer, or independent labels, vinyl is hard to beat.

Vinyl at home, Sirius in the car.

Well, another day has passed and I didn't use algebra once.

Looks like Steve was wrong! I guess when you grow up thinking MP3s are good quality sound you do not realise how much you are missing.

Depends. .m4a, .mp3, streaming... I still have and occasionally purchase CDs, but they get ripped straight into my digital collection.

Lol, I'd rather fill up my 32 GB Zune HD with thousands of songs at 320 kbps than only a handful of albums of lossless audio... The size difference just isn't worth it. I've got a set of Ultimate Ears TripleFi 10's which help a lot in bringing out more detail too.

It's mostly mp3 for me. Having grown up on vinyl, I wouldn't mind listening to it again if I felt like making the investment, but at the moment, I do not. The snobbish, anti-mp3 crowd is more than a little irritating. To many people, music is about inspiring an emotional response. Whether or not they can hear a tiny hint of some synthesized string instrument layered underneath a bunch of other sounds doesn't really matter a great deal. But I'm sure I speak for all mp3 listeners when I say we truly enjoy being lectured to about how we don't understand what real music is. Shame on us and our silly desires to carry thousands of songs in our pocket wherever we go.

You know, there's a reason Sony never invented the Vinylman.

Since I assume "MP3" was meant to encompass all digital audio file formats, that's what I chose. However, I mostly listen to .FLAC files.

Still a shame Sony's micro-disks (MD) didn't kick off to replace these technologies.

I own a recording studio and I listen to LP's or cassettes whenever possible and still record to tape (a talent in itself). You can not compare analog with digital...I always tell people its like having a 59' Corvette vs a 2012 Corvette. A new one is clearly more powerful and more options but you cant feel that raw power or quality of vintage! Pro's and con's to all! Important part is music opens up an inner soul that is repressed by everyday distractions and can free your mind to escape its own prison!

MP3s cut from CDs. The CDs must be used, too, because I have issues with the record labels and refuse to give them my money directly.
