I don't know if this helps, but I bought my memory foam mattress from here, and one side of my mattress never fully expanded. There as at least a four inch difference between one side and the other. It makes sleeping on that side of the mattress very difficult.

On a serious note, any estimates on shipping time for this? The smaller packaging is a big plus for moving but the whole 72 hour thing is a bit worrisome.

These are most likely being drop shipped from the vendor. I would expect them to ship within our usual 5 business day window.

I got one of these last time, and I'm still sleeping on it happily. However, two things:
1. It smells faintly of mildewed chocolate. This is getting fainter every month.
2. It can induce sweat. It's kind of a phenomenon, like Sailing Stones, but more annoying. Some people are more sensitive to it than others.

What I do not understand is why buy from Woot when you can get it at the same price on Amazon... I miss the old Woot..

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully others have had better experiences. Might be worth waiting a few months and purchasing if/when woot sells them again.

Have you seen Lethal Weapon? That scene when they shoot the guy who then falls into the pool with the pool cover on? That's what I imagine it looks like... slowly swallowed up as you sink to the bottom... unable to escape, hoping someone will find you. If not, you just hope they'll tell tales of how you fought hard but succumbed to the memory mattress monster valiantly.

We still take most of our own images when we can get samples in. When it's something as large as a bed, that's not always feasible.

I think it has more to do with airing out the fumes. I have a queen from Serta & it wasn't rolled but I still had to let it air out. I also have the Temperpedic brand pillows and they have to air out as well. They have a really weird smell.
& they do raise/swell a little.

parkermc wrote:I'm a bit confused about the instructions. We're to unpack/unroll the mattress within 72 hrs. of receipt "to maximize expansion." Does this mean that each mattress is wrapped just as it is being shipped out to us? Because I find that hard to imagine.

Surely these have been tightly rolled and sitting in warehouses for weeks/months, so why does the expansion hinge on the buyer unwrapping it within 3 days?

I have to be missing something here. Any ideas?

I have one. Searched, shopped and googled for days to educate myself about foam mattresses. Four inch "quality" is all you really need and don't have to spend more than $75 shipped. It's not brain surgery.

I got my memory foam mattress from Costco. . . the one I got was a little more expensive than this one but it's thicker. It's a great mattress with a better return policy and a better warranty--and since you know what brand you're getting, you can research it ahead of time to see if it's right for you. There is too much uncertainty here for a product you will use every night.

I agree with the whole 'it sucks not having a brand or model number listed thing'. I like to look up reviews on a product before I buy them online. Not like I don't trust woot but a bit more info than a self-proclaimed 'luxury mattress' would be very helpful.

I can also understand how they can't say if the discount is too steep and people won't pay the full price ever again if they see it was like 80% off here at any point. Much like Trader Joe's business model. They re-brand stuff so they producers don't have to compete with their own prices. But it would be nice if they said that's why the brand isn't named. At this point we're just ordering in the dark and hoping for the best. Not exactly like these are returnable...

Be very careful. A previous memory foam mattress was my WORST experience with woot. The think reeked and never expanded to the stated size. Woot blamed the manufacturer, and the manufacturer refused to make good.

You have been warned.

Do they even make boxes that big?

I have one now, they come rolled up and compressed but once they are expanded - well, short of a steam-roller I don't see how it could ever get back to that size...

Don't know who the manufacturer is or was but the full size 10" memory foam mattress that I bought from Woot the last time it was sold here......very disappointed. It never regained the proper shape. It ended up with a huge indent right down the middle of it making it very uncomfortable.

You probably wouldn't be able to pronounce it anyway, or the city and province the factory is in either.

We bought queen, full, and twin in previous woots and we are satisfied with all.

I haven't noticed any extra heat attributable to the mattress. Since you can adjust your desired warmth with more or less covers, it isn't an issue anyway.

In case anyone worries about the smell, it dissipates within a few days. Just be glad you don't work in the factory.

The previous woot mattresses were much lighter than a traditional mattress, but would require special shipping. They do make mattress boxes.

I bought two of these from WOOT about 10mos ago. They were both defective. The supplier issued a refund, but still a pain in the ass to get rid of.

No thanks.

In the video, the mattress unfurls and begins to expand, but the two pillows that are alleged to come with it do not seem to be there. Do they come wrapped separately?

I bought a 4" memory foam mattress for myself three years ago from Overstock.com and it is very comfy. It is a hassle to get the cover on and off, but can be done.

I bought one for my sister, who put it on top of her old mattress. She likes it too.

We are happy with the queen, full, and twin bought in previous woots, but they were not the same model. It can be flopped on the floor, but get a bed frame to hold it which gives storage space underneath, and makes it look nicer, too.

Ah young love! I recommend getting the biggest you can afford/fit into your space. There will be bad times when a king size seems too small, and then happy times when a king size is too small for different reasons. Queen size is a nice compromise. When it comes to mattresses, size does matter!

For those who are in the market for a mattress, you might want to look at the selection at Ikea. I live with a woman where its pretty much guaranteed she is not going to like the first mattress we get...and it took two this time to get a mattress that fits both of us "just right". The reason I am plugging Ikea, is that we soooo close to getting a $1400 super wammy-jammy mattress at a major furniture chain -- and I insisted that we check out Ikea before laying out the big bucks. They have a fairly broad selection for Ikea, and the prices (when compared to the average prices in other stores) were VERY good.

We took the first mattress back after 2 months, and the second after 2.5 -- and they accepted both no questions asked (One note -- they gave us store credit, not cash.)

Personally, I find buying one online untested by your body to be very high risk -- they are very shippable when compressed but my guess it would cost a fortune to return once in full size mode.

I just want to recommend against this.

I bought a Woot memory foam mattress a couple of years ago which was likely the same brand (Sarah Peyton) and it was the worst thing I've ever bought. Seriously, I only just got rid of it recently. It was hurting my back.

Shortly after breaking it in, you'll be sinking in like it's a marshmallow and have your back folded in an awful position. It's got zero support.

I feel the best way to go for a mattress is to get a super firm innerspring then put a latex foam topper on top.

I agree brook, it's a sad day too....I purchased 1 of these about 2 years ago (for considerably le$$) on Woot & I recently moved on from it. They work great for kids or small people but for average or above people they will develope a huge valley in it & are also quite warm.

Funny-I just provided nearly the same comments on the 'beta feedback' just now before seeing this comment. Kind of sad-woot had a good idea and garnered loyal followers. Now, you can't tell the difference between woot and any other online discount retailer.

Most businesses try to minimize inventory. It is easy for me to imaging them not even making the woot order until they find out how many are needed.

Rolling them up just before shipping is done because they can get permanently deformed if left rolled up. That may account for some people's comments about mattresses not recovering their shape. Either the factory or the customer waited too long. Temperature of the mattress during shipping may have an effect as well .

I wouldn't recommend waiting. The manufacturer wouldn't tell you to open it quickly for no reason. Plus your warranty will be over before you open it.

Remember the term "Memory Foam" has no definitive meaning. Even the ads stating NASA invention for the astronauts ARE NOT memory foam. At best they may have an inch or two on the top. These inexpensive mattresses are made from FOAM and can vary in density and longevity. The pillows are FOAM, not memory foam.
For a guest bed or kids bed this might fit the bill but you are taking a chance if you want something that will last.

Purchased a similar 10" memory foam mattress from a big box store some years ago and placed it on top of a 6-year old mattress that was structurally sound but not as comfortable as it used to be.

Overall I am pleased with the result, but find that it retains body heat much more than a typical mattress would. I have slept with a fan on for white noise for many years, and with this mattress I need the fan pointed at myself or I will be too warm to sleep comfortably.

I do enjoy a good grilled cheese sandwich.
