I too share khufu413's sentiments about the Woot site change. Just not the allure it once held. Too difficult to find importaant things about the sale, FAR too busy with "other" things, and the best part about each day, the Description, hes been shoved into a corner, to blend into the background like everything else. And when I say everything, thats a lot of things in this brave new world. Sorry, Woot, you just don't stand out anymore.

I also share this user's opinions of "meh" and "who cares what you think". So put this in the No Great Loss column, Woot until-recently-Gods.

I got a Flip from here about a half year ago, and within its inherent limitations, it actually takes pretty great videos. I agree this seems like a very similar product. I may have to do some more research on this when I get home.

Under Woot's description it states "Anti-Shake" as a feature, but I can't find that listed in any of the RCA documents. Does it have built in image stabilization?

I'd like to know the answer to this one, as well.

Also, does anyone know what the resolution is in the 60fps mode? I'm guessing it's the "web quality" 320x240 since no one is touting that this thing can do 720p at 60fps. No info in RCA manual on the high speed mode or whether it can record/charge at same time.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I wonder if this would be a cheap alternative to a proper dashcam. I think it might be more hassle than it's worth to try to make it perform that function. You'd need to keep erasing the SD card and manually turning the thing on every time you started up the vehicle. Not to mention--how do you mount it on the dashboard?

Why? You can rationalize it that way if it helps you sleep at night, but we all know exactly what it is - you can't stand the idea that if you go away woot will go on just fine without you and no one will care. So instead you need to keep coming back and saying how bad things are in the hope that you'll "punish" woot by scaring away some customer.

As far as I can tell both from the pictures on woot and from the description of the product on other sites, this camcorder actually takes full-size SD(HC) cards, not microSD(HC)

Make sure you get an SD card and not a microSD as some have mentioned.

Youtube also has some good sample videos of them. They have a built in lcd screen and you can change out the lens to different wide angles. The whole unit is smaller than a deck of cards.

I'll def look into getting one. A few prerequisites could be: front & rear facing cameras, auto save recordings if impact g force detected and motion sensing recording for when the car is parked.

Your not the only one. I have been using woot a tad longer than you and there has been a drastic change... it didn't happen over night... it slowly crept upon us... The upside is that I no longer see any point to staying up for the midnight change, which is good because while you used to be able to set your clock by the midnight change it now happens within a 10-15 minute window after midnight.... seems to be a good indication of the way woot has lost its way... People that seemed to care in the company appear to have been replaced by people that are just going through the motions. The write up quality has dropped and worst of all the quality of merchandise has dropped dramatically.

I guess woot is just moving toward being a Ubid.com type site... Ubid started out as a very good site near 15 years ago, where you could get great deals on a myriad of things, now its become a third rate dump for unwanted junk... It's looking like that is the same direction woot is now headed down... woot seems to have lasted half that long before going into land of "seen on tv" junk, maybe the life cycle on the internet has just gotten shorter... sad really
that sites like 1saleaday that tried to copy woots formula are now the only ones seeming to stay true to it.

The site change was probably just a shining example of the new era's arrival... though sadly it isn't an era I wish to embrace.

Here's to hoping Rutledge can come back with another incarnation of woot, now that he knows that big corporations like Amazon will not nurture the babies they buy, but instead eat them, maybe... just maybe next time he wont let the greed monster persuade him to sell his next baby.

Just my opinion, thanks for the lecture. And it is my opinion that whoever changed woot should be punished.

I look back on the days when the staff at woot feverishly worked at sourcing products for the next woot off. They didnt care what the product was or what we thought of it, they made fun of it and called it crap themselves, it was sold at a decent price. They put great items at great prices in there as well and it made me feel good buying from them because I wasnt buying from the big guys. The site was fun. Its what made it cool. The attention has shifted to the product and away from the story and wooters opinions and pointless posts. Not once on here has someone commented - does it work with a mac? until now. I still visit the woot site, but i haven't purchased anything since the change.

I posted in the beta feedback but it apparently fell on deaf ears. so, whats the point.

Anyways, I sleep just fine, I am not trying to scare anyone away, only trying to help out woot, and oh ya, happy wooting

EDIT: Hold on a moment, in the manual it appears that they're using a standard SD card. Can somebody from Woot actually look at the product? Because there are a lot of conflicting descriptions online.

Incorrect. It requires a microSD card. According to this blogger that also reviewed the camera, that reviewer has absolutely no clue what he's talking about. She tried to use a class 2 card at first, but quality was greatly improved when she upgraded to a class 10 (as you would expect). The product info clearly states that it IS compatible with microSDHC, and at least a Class 4 card is required.

I looked at the Amazon listing, and I looked through the manual that's linked to the original email here, and both list, with no qualifications, "SD or SDHC card." The illustration of how to insert a memory card also clearly looks like a good ol' SD card. No "micro" in there at any time.

Can somebody go back in the warehouse and actually look at one of these things?

ThunderThighs wrote:You need a microSDHC card to store your videos. It does not have built-in memory.

For those wondering, the manual states that you can record up to 16 hours of 720p (1280x720) video on a 32GB card. It also states you can get 28 hours in HQ (720x480) mode, and 80 hours in web quality (320x240) mode.

HOWEVER, I still can't find anything about battery life, and I'm guessing the battery won't last anywhere near 16 hours. It says charging time for the battery is 4 hours.
