The manual and product pictures indicate that a standard SD card is required (or, of course, a microSD with an adapter). Do you guys have any products laying around that you can just look at and tell us which it is? Also, it would be nice to if you could test if these are SDHC compatible, because there are a lot of conflicting reports coming in.

Incorrect. It requires a microSD card. According to this blogger that also reviewed the camera, that reviewer has absolutely no clue what he's talking about. She tried to use a class 2 card at first, but quality was greatly improved when she upgraded to a class 10 (as you would expect). The product info clearly states that it IS compatible with microSDHC, and at least a Class 4 card is required.

In the manual I also don't see any mention of it getting 60fps under any setting as it states on the woot product description , which is a direct copy from RCA by the way. Going to hold off for a few hours until I find better info.

Agreed. The manual says nothing about a 60fps "sports" mode, nor does it say anything about an "anti-shake" feature. I bought one last night, but I'm beginning to regret my decision. I was hoping I could use it as a cheap action-cam of sorts, for biking and skiing.

Can anybody from the Woot staff get back to us on this?

I know you got your specs from RCA, but the specs from RCA and the specs in the manual are different. Is it possible that there are older/newer versions of this camera with different features?

fatdragon wrote:Actually, Woot leaves a lot of negative posts up, even gives quality post status to "Do not buy" posts on an almost daily basis. Are you sure you didn't cross some other line for decency or go completely off the topic of the thread? Accepting (and often encouraging or even demonstrating) skepticism about the quality of their products and their deals is something that has defined Woot for as long as I've known it, which goes back much further than the year+ that I've been regularly checking it.

When I posted the first time I was sure to be very polite; I was simply asking questions since I'm not a Wooter who has been around since "the good old days". I also made sure to mention something about the product so my post wouldn't be completely off-topic. I really don't know what else I can say...

ThunderThighs wrote:In the product threads, we look for useful posts about the product whether they're positive or negative. We do delete posts that don't discuss the product or give useful information like "Lame", "Hated it", "This Sucks" and the one you described don't give any information to the wooters that they can use.

Feedback on the site is always appreciated but it's best if it goes in more appropriate threads.

THANKS!

As I explained above, my deleted post was not completely off-topic. At least I didn't think it was; khufu's post didn't even mention the product here and it didn't get deleted, so it's kind of a double standard. I cast the spotlight on staff deleting my post, and now the negative posts are staying up. If they were deleted now, people would see it happening. I'm not trying to be a pain in the butt or anything, but I mean, yeah. How else can I explain it?

I wonder if this is somewhat dated advice. Poor performance in low light is largely a function of the lens opening (aperture) as well as the maximum ISO. Canon has been using CMOS for years in still cameras and the low light performance is fine.

But most of these focus-free cameras use a small aperture to increase the depth of field (focus). Any ideas?

HOWEVER, I still can't find anything about battery life, and I'm guessing the battery won't last anywhere near 16 hours. It says charging time for the battery is 4 hours.

My goodness people, are you all nuts? It's a $25 camera.

You have a champagne taste and a beer budget.

Do you honestly expect a $25 camera to have a mic input, work as a webcam and be waterproof???

It's an RCA!!!!

You might as well ask for it to come with a bag of magic fairy dust.

However, in the hands of a talented user, it will probably work OK. You can always record the audio with some digital recorder and synch it later.

JUNK

I got one of these a few months ago, when it was on Woot for $35. Its nearly useless. Video quality is horrible, not much better than the"mini DV" cams you can find for $12.
The programming is buggy and often requires an on/off cycle before you can start recording.
Also, the SD card doesn't seen to mount securely. If you jostle the cam it stops recording and shows a "sd card not inserted"message and you loose your video...
Run away.

We just got the information from the manufacturer. Here are the corrections to the sale:

1) the camcorder is capable of 30frs and not 60fps
2)   it uses standard SD card instead of microSDHC

We apologize for the confusion.

If you already ordered and no longer want the camera, email service@woot.com to cancel. However, due to our sometimes super-dee-duper fast shipping, you may be told that your order has already been processes for shipping. If this is the case, you can refuse shipment.

Customer Service will be contacting everyone who bought the camera tomorrow with this information.

Sorry for the late post. I actually use two. The Dr.9 faces front and this one is in my rear window for the rear-end collision. It also is a very good GPS logger and has accelerameters built in to tell if you breaked, impact force, etc. It sucks at night though. http://reviews.cnet.com/digital-camcorders/x-driven-drs-1100/4505-6500_7-33772168.html

It seems RCA published their specs incorrectly. An alert wooter posted earlier that the manual says 30fps while the specs said 60fps. Our buyers went back to RCA for clarification and my correction was the information we received.

Quick question needing a quik answer.

I understand that an "SD" card can be used in place of an "SDHC" card (but not the other way around). Is this correct and can you tell me the differnce between the two? I have a number of "SD" cards on hand but no "SDHC".

Thanks for the help, Turn Key!

PS: Never mind. Got in a hurry due to time running out. Looks like our friendly Woot! staff has already answered this. Seems unit takes "SD" cards ONLY which meens that once the cards I have are worn out, lost or broken, I'm out of luck. Think I'll pass on this one.
