No. I did not have to login during the bag purchase process.

Greetings again all.

The problems are not with your Internet service. Not gonna lie, we do have issues at our ends including (but not limited to) getting slammed by an unbelievable amount of traffic that even load leveling in the cloud can't handle.

Apologies from all of us for this experience and thanks for sticking with us.

Yep. I considered calling and haggling them for the new 75/35 speeds, but I'm fine with what I have (which is actually supposed to be 35/35). I'm not a gamer, so it's plenty of speed for the net and anything I might stream.

About the extra sign in:

This is an added measure of security to be sure that the person making the purchase is you and to keep your private information private.

"Stuff you bought" and "Your Account" contain personal and financial information. We ask for an added level of verification before accessing these areas. Think of it like this... if you walk away from your desk at work, someone can't make an order on your account.

This is the process followed by many other online retailers.

Honestly, the only other site I can think of off the top of my head that seems to do that to you is.... Amazon. Surprise.

It really is a horrid practice and very, very, very annoying to the consumer. If someone walks away from their desk (why are they shopping online at work anyway?) and wants their account secured, there's that lovely (Sign out) option. We appreciate those in the prettier woot offices making some positive changes in response to the user complaints, but this is one they should seriously consider.

Woot is a business, and any business that cannot operate effectively is not successful. I REALLY want woot to continue it's world domination, i really do. But it HAS to find some other way. I think the Bucket of Coral idea is marvelous, but I also think it is time to change direction if it cannot be executed with perfection.

My unit tries hard to drop bombs on target. Please forgive them ,they are working hard after all, if they miss and slaughter the innocent.

Not trying to be disagreeable, but please allow me to disagree with you, LOL.

This is not bomb-dropping. Woot is not "all about" Bucket of Coral.
They began in a garage and became a thriving, successful, multi-million $ business in a short period of time because of their initial business model. Bucket of Coral are merely a bonus they offer us (customers) for fun. Even without them, they'd have a thriving business. It (the Bucket of Coral is the gravy....not the meat or potatoes. It is the icing...not the cake. It is the "O"...not the...well, wait a minnit that last one might not be the best example.

Point is....just to offer a differing perspective....Woot would *still* be a thriving business w/o even offering Bucket of Coral. (Please don't do this, Woot---I'm only trying to make a point, LOL!) Those who Woot regularly would continue to do so, and those who come ONLY for the Bucket of Coral are not valuable customers. Woot can afford to lose them (I wish that would happen, actually, as the rest of us will still buy up all their Bucket of Coral: we'd be better off, and they wouldn't lose a dime.) If you judge a business' success/failure based upon ONE clearance event a month, then you apparently don't understand what Woot is all about.

May the Crap be with you all!!!

As for the "id check", this seems to happen if you haven't re-logged in recently, though I'm not sure how short "recently" is. It's certainly in the hours range, and maybe minutes.

This is the tradeoff for no longer having to provide the CVV2. It's a security thing to keep someone from buying something from your computer if you left it logged on.

As for the crashes, well.... Woot isn't going to spend the bucks for a Google-sized dataplex just so they can sell bags of crap at $3. So they have to come up with an economical way to minimize the pain, without having a server that's 99.99% oversized 99.99% of the time. There's cloud-based load-leveling, but that's tricky to do.

The alternative is no more Bucket of Coral, which solves the server overload problem.

True, those two areas of the site have a shorter time-out period... not sure what it is.

We do many other things for payment verification behind the scenes. The sign in is just one of them.
