My account is still showing three separate order numbers, all three are in "Waiting List" status, and none of them can be cancelled as the Cancel link is gone.

Do you Moderators know what it means to be put on a waiting list?

Any experience with this camera in low light? I'm talking indoors with lamps on, maybe some windows open, not twilight or night shots. I just want to avoid using the flash generally. Can this camera do that acceptably?

Sure, there are a few things that have been tweaked a bit, but (as of the last time I looked) there hadn't been A SINGLE written response in any thread or sent out to any user in response to all the "feedback."

(... snip ...)

BTW- it's actions and responses like the one pointed out here that are making your loyal users become less loyal.

Check out this deals thread for some indications of what's been updated since we initially launched. @shawnmiller has a couple entries there.

Think of a number - what you think is a realistic amount of Feedback responses Woot received. I can almost guarantee that we received more feedback than the number in your head. Every piece of feedback that comes in is read, categorized, and prioritized. Given the massive volume of feedback, and the crazy number of changes we've deployed since launch (Shawn's bullet points are high level, and don't come close to covering all of the tweaks that have been made), it's really tough to be as transparent as you and we would be like to be.

Some of the feedback we receive isn't actionable - e.g. "it sucks" or "go back to the old version" - but every feedback is listened to and digested. We're doing the best we can to move quickly and fix the biggest pain points as fast as we can. On top of this we have a new architecture with plenty of new quirks (as I'm sure you all noticed with the (in)stability at times during the Woot-Off).

Also, this is off-topic and not targeted at you, but I do think that many Wooters are remembering the old site through rose-tinted glasses to a certain degree. Take a look at this snapshot of the old site. Realize that there are 3 ads on that page that aren't loaded by Archive - 2 in the center column and 1 in the far right column - very in your face. Also, check out all of those thumbnails images, the tiny text, links everywhere... The old site was far from simple. I don't say this to diminish anyone's opinion - I agree that there are plenty of things about the new site that need work. I just want to point out that there was a lot in that old site that was worth our designers taking a fresh look at.

Please, keep the feedback coming!

If you manually adjust the shutter speed/ISO/fstop then it can take a fine indoor shot. It will take some practice though, and won't do it on auto mode.

I'm no photographer, so because of this purchase I taught myself the three very basics: Aperture, f.stop, and ISO. With the knowledge of how those work and handy Program and Manual modes, I was able to get nice clear shots indoors. (which on automatic Does. Not. happen)

The time from clicking the button to picture being taken is quick- near instant if you half press to focus. The zoom is the best. Check out this picture I took myself the first night I got it and barely knew what I was doing:

To me, that instantly made this worth it.

Videos are clear and HD, zoomed in pictures are sharp as long as you keep the camera steady. The batteries it comes with are not going to last you long, but I'm on lithium batteries and they've taken me through a lot. I like that all I have to do is throw two batteries in my bag and be off with it, no needing to have a special battery charger.

There is no strap which can be annoying. For the money I'd say it's an awesome deal for the newbs who are willing to research photography at the most basic level. Go for it!

This might be the most helpful comment of the discussion. Thanks!

Are the manual controls for those settings easy to use? I have a good handle on the settings themselves, but I don't want to have to dig through a bunch of menus to set them.

Nice moon shot, btw!

berrybuzz wrote:Here's what I mean at least:

Let's say there are two objects, one in the foreground, one in the background. I'm trying to take a picture of the background object and want the camera to focus there.

Every single freaking time across 10+ digital cameras (mine or borrowed from family members & friends), after I've gotten the focus on the background object, when I take the picture, the camera refocuses on the foreground image.

Also, I'll have what looks like a good shot, in focus. Once again that auto focus kicks on when I push the shutter button and unfocuses my picture, leaving it blurry.

This frustrated me so much, I went back to film cameras. Though I am looking for a camera I can manually focus. I was pretty sure I just needed to shell out for a SLR, but if a more affordable option arose, I'd take it.

Have you tried pointing the camera at the background object, pressing the button halfway to lock the focus, reframing the picture, and the pressing it the rest of the way?

If that doesn't work with your default settings, you may be able to change a setting to limit auto focus to the center and then do the above.

My last film camera, a Canon EOS Elan 7e, had nine autofocus spots marked in the viewfinder, and it would focus on the one I was looking at. Unfortunately Canon decided not to use that technology in their digital cameras.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Which means your post (and this one) are not long for this board.

I did think there was one MAJOR functional improvement since the move to Amazon. I accidentally bought an item during the wootoff that I thought was something else and was pleasantly surprised to see a new feature on the stuff you bought page-- the ability to cancel an item you just bought. So, 30 seconds after I bought it, I hit cancel and got an email from Amazon (disguised as Woot) that said "In an effort to streamline our shipping process, orders are now processed to ship much faster. As a result, unfortunately, we are unable to alter or cancel your order."

Not headed in the right direction, guys. The is what happens when a big corp takes over a mom & pop and doesnt get why the mom & pop worked.

So all three have now shipped and charged. That's with me clicking "Cancel" long before they moved out of Waiting List status, and three emails to Customer (no)Service. Needless to say, this is the last time I do business with woot!

Also, feedback and/or criticisms might be *about* the site, but not directed at the staff to read. Someone might feel the urge to express their thoughts or point of view for other users to see and where they know other users are CURRENTLY reading comment.

Staff

Greetings all. First let me apologize for the problems you are having with receiving your cameras.

The camera bag was likely shipped separately from the camera. You should receive your camera very shortly.

Between the woot-off and various outages last week, customer service is swamped with emails and working their darnedest to get through them. Please be patient.

If you emailed service@woot.com last week and haven't heard back, go ahead and email again. It's possible things got lost in one of the outages.

If you received your camera bag only, wait a day or two to see if the camera arrives.

If you paid for expedited shipping but that service didn't happen, please email service@woot.com.

Lastly, always check your spam/junk folders for our replies. They tend to end up there for some reason.

Again, apologies for the problems with your orders.

I got my woot today! I was so excited when the mailman knocked on the door and i received the box! I thought it was kind of light but opened it and i was so excited to see that I paid $139 for a EMPTY CAMERA BAG.. with a Kodak tag on it... sigh

I only got a camera bag too! It would have been nice if ya'll would let us know the case was coming in a separate box. My order says all shipped but surprise! Only the case. I'm super disappointed, this is the first woot purchase I've regretted. Does this mean I won't have a tracking number for the actual item?

When I go to My Account and look at the camera order, I see two numbers under Order Tracking. One is USPS from Chattanooga TN (the bag?), and the other is FedEx Dumbpost from Dallas TX (the camera?). So I can track both of them. Hopefully the camera arrives first...

We apologize. Another case will be sent.

I, too, only got a bag in a box...no camera. Unlike others, though, I only have two, not three, tracking numbers, and one of those doesn't work. The non-working number takes me to the USPS web site, but states it's not a valid number. The other takes me to a FedEx site, which states the package was delivered by the post office at 3:30 today...that would be the bag. How do I know the camera is on the way if the other link doesn't work?

I, too, have received two camera bags (those being the only tracking numbers). What's going on with you guys, Woot? I've bought lots of products and only once had an issue (got one instead of the three I ordered). But, this is just wasteful. Wasteful shipping, and aggravating to us - the customer.

Both packages that I had tracking numbers for were under a pound so I suspected both were camera bags since the specs list the camera alitle over a pound with the batteries. Sent an email to woot service to have them check and received the following reply:

"There have been a couple isolated cases, and we are looking into it, but you should receive your camera in the next package."

It appears I am one of the isolated cases since both packages I received were camera bags.

Sent another email to woot service to see where my camera is. Not very happy with this woot at all.

A few days ago I received just the camera bag. Today, I received yet another camera bag, without the camera or any other included items. Per my account information, I had two tracking numbers, which I assume refer to the two camera bags that were shipped.

So, Woot - still am needing the actual camera and other included items....
