Ooma Has Been Offered Quite a few times before and always gets a lot of response.

Great deal/idea, but Ive had a few calls that never went through, just went to voicemail. Also they are known for caller ID problems and "all circuits are busy" messages.

I've always wondered what the quality of these were. I sure would love to save a ton of money on phone service.

We bought this exact model a bit back and have used it without a problem for a few months. In Wisconsin, I think we pay $3.xx per month. It has never disconnected, and 911 is linked to our address. It does not need a computer to be on to run, and we love it. If you're thinking about it, know that we are among the very happy with this product. (I may even buy one for my mother - *that's* how easy it is to use)

I own this. Paid $145 for the refurb. a while back. Works wonderfully.

I pay $3.47 per month plus my calls which are $0.03 per minute to the UK.

I highly recommend it.

This sounds great, but what if we have 6 cordless phones throughout the house? According to what I'm reading I can only connect one phone like to this.

We use Ooma for our home phone number. For my work, they have me tied into a service with Voipo.com (someone dials my extension, goes over the net to my phone on my desk) and its much better. Its not free, but you would forget its not a land line. I think their basic service is like $150 for 2 years of service with options Vonage STILL doesnt offer (like call block). And they send you the free device.

Bottom line, Ooma is good for basic general phone service with bugs/hickups, Voipo for more reliable/cheaper than Vonage service. If you in a heavy populated area with overloaded circuits, you will hear buzzing and the other end with hear echos.

You would get a cordless kit (3 - 5 cordless phones with charger/stand, while one of them is the home base that you would plus the phone cable into). You see them a lot on woot (usually uniden).

Just hook it up to one of your phone jacks in your home and it works just like any phone service. All jacks will be live.

We have had Ooma for almost a year now. It has been rock solid for us. One of the best things to get. Wish we would have done it sooner. Also we fax a ton and it works perfect for us.

It will send the person to voice mail or you can set it up to forward your calls to your cell if you have service interruption.

If you call someone out of country a lot you can buy two , activate both at home , then ship the other one to your loved one far away. As long as it's connected to the internet it will work , it doesn't know where it is .

At their web site, you can configure your account so that calls are automatically sent to your cell phone ifnyourninternet connection goes down. Worked perfectly during a recent power outage at our home. Callers never knew anything was wrong.

Good price! But not good enough for me to pay the monthly fee. Still using my Ooma Hub for $0 ever. Ooma doesn't even have credit card information from me!

And oh ya the compatibility with Google voice is great , when someone calls me it rings my cellphone and my house phone , I get to choose which one I want to pick up. Also one voicemail for all my calls.

Yes, thats another thing. As long as that unit survives, you wont pay anything. If you have to replace that unit, your plan will change.

I used Vonage since they started and liked their customer service, to a point. I looked into Ooma and bought one here 3 months ago for 144.99 and thought that was a great deal. 99 bucks can't be beat. I love Ooma. I'm disconnected from the Plain Old Telephone Company where it comes into my house and I use a duplex adapter in my wall jack to accept Ooma and my cordless phone. Corded and cordless phones work and call fidelity is great. I love the base unit in that I can get messages through it in a high tech old skool way. Ooma is sooo cool.

I personally own one of this product ooma, been using it for years.. Very pleased with the quality, I think the quality depends on the speed of your broadband DSL internet. I sent mine to the Philippines & I got unlimited phone call to my family!! My plan is unlimited calls, I wonder if they still offer it that way? Got unlimited call for the lifetime of the gadget!

I love my Ooma Telo - bought it here on woot after much debate. Looking back, I definitely over thought it and should have bought it sooner. My Ooma Telo replaced my Vonage box. Nothing against Vonage, but I don't miss Vonage or their phone bill one bit. The number porting went smoothly and my Ooma Telo has already paid for itself. If only I could make Vonage realize I'm not coming back (they're still sending marketing offers in the mail). I'm looking forward to the (delayed) release of the HD2 handset. Highly recommended!

Buy this, it works. Let's face it a world with one more landline in favor of one less celll phone, even when internet dependent, is a better world for all.

We've had one for about a year now and it's great. May have saved my 4 year olds life. We registered it with our address for the 911 service and when my daughter had a seizure my wife just dialed 911 and they already knew where to come. Super nice!!

I bought mine at the previously offered 149 price and, while a little miffed having paid $50 more than today, it's still a much better deal than working with the phone companies. I'm in Wisconsin, too, and pay about $4/month. Compared to the $35/mo with AT&T or my cable company, it will pay for itself in a few months.

The only problem I have had with it since installing it was when my internet service got below 5 mbps (modem needed rebooting, now it's back to 18+). There are two xbox's in my house, and a pc gamer, along with several laptops and tablets. If you have nothing else using it I'm sure 5mbps will be fine, but if you have multiple users actively using your bandwidth it could be difficult to make calls and/or hear anyone while talking at lower bandwidths. (Like a cell phone cutting in and out.)

I give it 5 out of 5 so far, and will be recommending it to family at today's price for sure!

No activation fee. Just go to the website, enter your personal info (credit or bank card I believe required to pay for the taxes)

Follow the instructions in the guide and it's ready to use very quickly. If you have a cablemodem/dsl and router, put the Ooma between the two (e.g. Coax into cablemodem, network cable from cablemodem to Ooma In port, network cable from Ooma Out port to router.

Seriously, tough to mess up.

I am wondering why some members are paying about $4 a month.

Ooma started charging me for monthly taxes with my Ooma Hub! My service was cut off since they didn't have a Credit Card on file. It wasn't until I gave them the CC info that they turned me back on... but with $4 charges per month! (Still worth it though).

I never actually tried one of these but it was in my list of voip phone systems when I was doing my research before I purchased a set up.

this one seemed cool with all the goodies but i didn't want to spend a whole lot. i decided to try net talk duo 1st. the rest seemed minnow as could be so i narrowed it down to ooma and Net Talk.

I picked the net talk to try 1st because it was only 49 bucks and the first year was included. I do not know what the service would be like if I didnt have a great connection but i am so glad I tried this 1st, it's 29 bucks a year and I have had no problems with it at all, it works great.

here is the only changes I have experienced, 1. the phone company is GONE and i never have to pay them again - that saved me 45.00 a month.
2. sometimes when I make a local call I have to dial the area code like it was long distance or it will ring busy.
3. my ID caller works all the time now, with my phone co it would not work 100% of the time. oh yeah, and it is free.
4. People i know actually call me and leave messages cause they know I can call them back, the 45.00 a month I used to pay did not include free long distance.
5. I can take net talk anywhere and its the size of a granola bar.. LOl i have the same phone number forever and i never get dumb calls from people that do not know me.

I get perfect reception. my connection is awesome and I pay 40.00 a month for it, 40 Megs down and between 19 and 27megs up. from century link.

I do not know how the customer service is for net talk because I have never had a problem with it, using now for almost 1 year. in October I have to send them 29.00 and they take pay pal. sweet deal.

No monthly bill, not even taxes. and i set it up myself in less than 20 minutes, i can check messages online if I want. :O)

I have 5 cordless phones and a base phone in the office, my 5th phone is out in my work shed 200 feet away from the base, works perfect, all the phones ring just like a reg phone.

bought one of these a few months back at the $149 price for my parents. they travel back and forth between the States and the Philippines and had previously used a MagicJack (the original that has to be plugged into a computer).

the MagicJack required frequent restarts, either of the unit itself or the computer it was attached to. a coworker recommended the Ooma, and when it showed up on Woot I convinced my dad to try it out.

they are extremely pleased with it. it's really reliable. the only time it didn't work was when their internet went out - that would affect any VOIP service. and the call quality is much better than the MagicJack. my parents say it's like talking "on a real phone" and on my end their voices come through really clearly.

it's small enough that they travel with the Ooma. at this price, I'm going to ask if they want to get a second unit - although I believe you have to subscribe to Ooma's premium service if you want multiple units to share the same number. they had 2 MagicJacks, so maybe they'll just want a second Ooma number.

I believe I saw somewhere that with refurbished units you have to pay a re-activation fee or something. Does anyone know if this is true?

Just what does "refurbished" mean? Was it defective or just returned?

Bought one last year for way more money. Ported our phone number effortlessly. Have not had a moment's problem. Ours is connected to the internet through a router and a switch--Ooma's least desired method of connection--and the quality of service on our 4 phone wireless system is indistinguishable from the phone company. We pay about $50/year v $650/year with Verizon. Do the math. Do yourself a favor.
