Well, how do you fare compared to the Zeitgeist? Chat up your fellow wooters and let us know how lame this poll was or what obvious choices we missed. For example: Was this poll a) STUPID, b) DUMB, c) POINTLESS or d) ALL OF THE ABOVE?

Library card equals access to digital books via Overdrive!

Our county library system now gives out a standard card PLUS a key chain card. I only lose my card now when I lose my keys (which are attached to my purse because I've lost them too often!)

Yes! I love Overdrive!

Practically all of my reading is on a tablet now - a whole library the thickness of a magazine.

Books, books, books! There's nothing quite like the feel of a book! We go to our local branch of our city's public library system AT LEAST one a week and each of us checks out 2 to 5 books at a time.

Haven't been there in a while....everything I want to read can be downloaded, I but when we used to get blackouts, or I couldn't afford the internet, I'd go on over to Ye-old-read'n hole

My library is small, but its part of a several county library system. So, if my library doesn't have a book I want, its a good bet that some other library in the area does have it and they ship it to my library. I basically just reserve books online and then wait for my library to email me to come pick it up.

My daughter goes to a free program at the library during the summer and checks out a new book or 2 every week.

And to all the people posting that they use ereaders instead of the library....lots of libraries rent out ebooks as well. I know mine does.

Oh and the best new thing I found that my library has? Game of Thrones Season 1 on DVD. I don't have HBO and its not on Hulu, so I was beyond excited to find that they had it.

I just checked out two books yesterday, and an audiobook is on hold for downloading.

I absolutely love the library!

I'm just hanging out, really.

Rarely, if ever, visit the building. Download most of my reading.
Haven't seen my card, just use the number for access.

I buy a lot of books, but I seldom buy one I haven't already read. The library is my test drive. I probably read 100 books for every one I add to my collection.

Used to practically live in the library, but haven't been to one in years because I've been buying and trading books. Went a couple weeks ago to get a library card so I can download to my Kindle. I'm sure I was gawking. That's not my old library. Where's the card catalog?

Well, another day has passed and I didn't use algebra once.

I used to use it a lot until I got my Kindle.

I love test driving new authors/series through my library! It's how I discovered one of my favorite sci-fi writers as well as learned a few new knitting techniques.

The community opportunities at your local library are awesome, too, no card needed. Just pick a group/class/event from their calendar, or even start your own for an interest group.

I agree 100%-I've got to have the feel of pages between my fingers. I don't like only seeing one page at a time on a screen.

E-readers are great, I'm sure, especially in terms of accessibility and not having to carry 20# of books around; but to me nothing will ever replace the printed word.

I find I have started to take paper books out for a spin at the library before I commit to a Kindle copy, and buy paper copies if I love them. And I read books to pieces if I love them so I am getting used to digital methods so I can keep them around longer by saving wear on my paper copies (just in case the world crashes and we lose our digital lives...I still want my books lol). I just wish they had waterproof cases for Kindle Fires!!!!

(Er, yes, I love books)

I get new-release movies faster than Netflix by reserving online as soon as they're on order by the library. Haven't paid to watch a movie (on DVD) in years....

My library also has freegal.com free MP3 music downloading. Our Overdrive also has free audio-books.

When you pay what I pay in taxes, you tend to use your library out of SPITE.

i save $60.00 a month (at least) by borrowing all of my books from the local library instead of purchasing them from Amazon.com or Barnes & Noble. I can order them online through the computer and then pick them up at the library around the corner. I have also tried the online e-reader system (just okay, not great). The county library has "free movie Fridays", story-time Wednesdays and resume and job-search aid. My son loves going to the children's section and then checking books out. Both libraries are incredible.

Yes, and I use it all the time. I literally shed a tear the first time I walked into the Seattle Public Library. It was just so beautiful!

It used to be so horrible and useless just a mere decade ago. When I moved back to town in 2011 I was amazed at the difference.

I'm just hanging out, really.

I do. Right under my name, it says I'm responsible. Had to show that to my parents when I got it.

I've got an inferiority complex...

But not a very good one.

Anybody remember bookmobiles? My kids got introduced to books via the bookmobile. (Youngest called it the bookybile)

Well, another day has passed and I didn't use algebra once.
