I've been reading all of your posts about your start dates and first purchases.

Let's kick it up a notch now.

What's the weirdest thing you think we've sold?

What's the write-up that sticks in your mind as the weirdest, funniest, fondest, or the one you can't believe they actually published.

The weirdest thing I remember seeing was the K-Y Yours & Mine Date Night Set

As for write-ups, I liked the one on the fishing poles from the last woot-off.

(Yes, I do have a short-ish memory. Why do you ask?) ;)

...and here goes the long, drawn-out discussion of Yes, Dear. Again.

I missed it - too busy watching this crap to refresh Facebook obsessively like I usually do.

Too bad Facebook and Twitter are blocked at work.

Oh well, maybe they'll have one next April.

I think my favorite weirdest write-ups are the 18th or 19th century French king speaking to his court inventors in IM/text language:

The Hammock Chairs of Death (here) are easily one of my favorite things that we've ever sold. It's one of those things I use to explain our site.

My favorite write-ups? Cooking through the Pain. I love you, Pilot. You'll always be my favorite. And not just because you don't talk about your dreams at lunch.

Did you know shirt.woot ships internationally? Get you some!

Its the problem with the small number per sale. Unless you're lucky or sitting around watching 24/7 its pretty difficult to get.

Now that's a quality post right there! When the KY Date Night package was offered I was hoping TT would explain (in detail) how it's supposed to be used, but, alas, it didn't happen.

Happy B-Day Woot...

I came for the deals back on Monday, August 30, 2004, and stayed for the photoshop contests (like this one). I was sad to see the contests go, but still drop in on woot several nights a week to check out the latest deals.

Weirdest/funnest thing: Several woot-off items come to mind, the LifeSign SpermCheck Fertility Test immediately followed by the blue balls was good for a laugh as was the LED Grow lamp that we almost perfectly timed to launch at 4:20.

Caulk talk is one of my favorite write-ups but I have to give a vote to my TiVo write-up (the fourth item ever sold on Woot, long before we had the sense to hire writers to do the heavy lifting) comparing TiVo to Paris Hilton: "TiVo is so easy, everyone in the house can use it. Think of TiVo as the Paris Hilton of electronics. Yes, it's really that easy."

And since we're going Waaaay back... the original Woot 'About Us'

What is woot and who's behind it?

woot.com is an online store and community run by the employees of a 10 year old consumer electronics distributor that focuses on close-outs and generally buying stuff cheap. Since the distributor doesn’t sell to end users, Woot, Inc provides us with an employee-store slash market-testing type of place. Hopefully the boss won’t take notice. We anticipate profitability by 2043 -- by then we should be retired; someone smarter might take over and jack up the prices.

I see only 1 item, do you sell anything else?

No. We sell 1 item per day until it is sold out or until 11:59pm central standard time when it is replaced (see next entry for details). However, each item we sell is in stock and ready to ship that day. Our warehouse manager thinks we are insane.

What is the schedule for new items?

OK - this is simpler than it sounds: A new product is released at 12am central standard time Monday through Friday mornings (if you are not a morning person, this can be described as Sunday - Thursday at midnight. better?) Friday's product will last through the weekend unless we sell out. If a product sells out during it’s run, a new item will not appear until the next release time. You will know if a product is sold out, because the main page says "SOLD OUT" instead of "I want one". (clever, eh?)

I missed yesterday's item, can I get one still?

No. Each woot.com product is discontinued at 11:59 central time monday-thursday and sunday. We may get more at a later date if we're lucky, but we offer no guarantees, we allow no backorders, and we have no waiting / notification lists. Too bad.

I want to talk to a live person there, can I call you?

No. We are busy sourcing new products and shipping orders. You can post a comment to our community board, but we don't guarantee to respond. You should google for the manufacturer contact to get product answers – we suggest a dating service, magic 8 ball, or ouija board for general life solutions.

Will I receive customer support like I'm used to?

No. Well not really. If you buy something you don’t end up liking or you have what marketing people call “buyers remorse,” sell it on ebay. It’s likely you’ll make money doing this and save everyone a hassle. If the item doesn't work, find out what your doing wrong. Yes, we know you think the item is bad, but it’s probably your fault. Google your problem, or come back to that product's topic in our community and ask other people if they know. Try to call the manufacturer and ask if they know. If you give up and must return it to us, then follow on to the next FAQ entry.
