I debated between buying this and the Bose soundlink a few months back. Went with the Bose and it turned out to be one of the best purchases I have made in a long time. For $99 you have to stop and consider the JBL though

I'm just gonna try to preempt some pricing debates here. If you're gonna compare prices, make sure you're doing so with the OnBeat AIR. We had a lot of confusion with this last time.

Thank you. Now back to your originally scheduled program.

So... is it portable, i.e. rechargeable? I don't see any verbage to that effect yet there's the disclaimer about Postal Service shipping regs re batteries. Confused.

It requires a wall plug to run.

The battery is in the remote. Sigh.

Sadly, it will not work with your iPhone 5 as they are going to be changing the connector. Which is why it's on sale now.

At the least, it will be unable to charge it.

The JBL OnBeat Air page has a compatibility chart smack in the middle of it. That should help you out.

I'm shocked SHOCKED that a copy writer from Woot also at some point worked for (now defunct) Broadwing Corp. and could channel the quiet desperation endemic to those too proud to brown nose middle/upper management. While I can't speak on the quality of this JBL speaker, I'll give the write up 4 1/2 stars. Bravo.

My question was intended as a joke. I would explain it but then it would REALLY lose its comedic value. Actually I think that's already happened, now that I've typed this long reply explaining my feeble attempt to be funny.

I don't even have an iPhone.

Here is a fantastic Video Review if you speak Italian.

If you're stuck in english like me this is more up your alley. Here is a sales pitch from JBL

Quality post 4 sure.

This will work for my wife's iphone 4s. Think she would like it? She has a cheap one now from The Woot and uses it lots. If I hear any more Aerosmith since we did the concerts. Just sayin. I dunno what women in their 40s see or hear in Tyler. Small doses r okay. Not 2 hours of him.

That's my question. Will it fit with my Otter Defender case. AND without putting too much strain on the connection????

Amazon has it for 123.99 with free shipping, so definitely a better buy here, but still haven't seen anything about sound quality.

We really try to get the best data we can for the List price. Looks like this one came straight from JBL where they show the MSRP at $299 as well.

I'm sure we mess some of them up but looks like we might have gotten this one right.

C'mon woot, give us something different. It seems like the deals on this website are similar to the ones on amazon lightning deals (free publicity ;)). No doubt, a deal is still a deal, but I need a little authenicity, a little different from amazon. Pump in your little creativity towards products itself on top of your great description. Give us some of your unwanted, non-returnable, over-stocked , refurbised products in your warehouse for unrealistic prices. These are only my opinions and don't get me wrong, I still love woot!

my h bought one for me last time, he was on the fence for two and i said, let's just get one and see... he waited for it to appear all last woot-off and cursed me daily (while i was listening to my music on this awesome speaker dock) for just buying one last time. i'm going to wait till he wakes up to see if he wants one or two more this time. the sound is fantastic, it fits great on my kitchen counter and the dock itself is so sturdy. i love this thing. thanks woot for bringing this jbl speakerdock back... no more speaker envy in this house!

edit to add: my h has the otterbox cover on his iphone4 and it fits perfect on the jbl. he has a bridgeway by devicewear ipad cover and that too fits. the kids play with my ipad, so my case is clunky... the roocase and that does not fit.

I bought one last time. I still haven't persuaded it to connect to the wireless network, so no comment there. It connects to my Mac laptop with the same type of USB cable my Canon printer uses, though, and makes the laptop sound like my Bose. Almost! It has great sound, and as someone else said, it is very counter-stable. It's big. Too big to fit in the spot I had planned for it-- you might want to measure and be smarter than me.
Last comment: I have a vinyl shell on my 4S, and it fits very comfortably on the dock for charging.
Now if my son-in-law would just take a day off and do his magic thingamajiggy with the wireless, I'd be all set to listen to my new Yo Yo Ma!

And now for something completely different...

And what's to say that this isn't unwanted, non-returnable, and/or over-stocked?

In summary, the sound is pretty good for its size, just don't expect thumpin bass. It's also a great value for featuring AirPlay. Most iOS docks with that feature are quite expensive.

I have an excellent Altec Lansing dock with good FM, built-in battery and fine sound that I bought at Goodwill for $5.

It doesn't fit the newer Pod/Pad products, but it does have aux-in, and a simple patch cord from the dollar store does the trick.

Do you REALLY need wireless connections? Make planned obsolescence work for you, not against you.

acpress.com Not cute, but useful.

The owner's manual says you can't rotate between portrait/landscape when an iPad is docked (only iPhone/iPod), although the Charlie Brown video link CowboyDann posted seems to disagree.

Anyone using an iPad with this who can confirm? They must allow you to choose orientation before you dock (right?) but can you really not rotate, or is it more of a "suggestion"?

Thank you, Google. I thought I remembered this discussion from the last sale. Here's what I posted:

ThunderThighs wrote:Someone at HQ grabbed an iPad to test this. He reports:

You can have the arm in the landscape position and put the iPad clip on - then dock it. You can’t rotate it with the iPad on the dock

He also said to be sure to use the clip - if you try to use the iPad in landscape w/o the clip you will damage your iPad or the connector.

Hope that helps.

I bought one last time and loved the look but it wouldn't sync and I needed to return it to JBL/Harman. Flawless experience except for one problem, they list a phone number to check the status of your return...always and I mean always busy.

Was just notified this morning that my replacement has shipped.

Fingers crossed.

Anybody know if this is 220V 50Hz capable? I looked through a couple of the manuals provided above but it was never mentioned, just power consumption. Thanks!
