Honestly, if Costco sold this and it got rave reviews and it's a huge brand in Australia with a stadium named after them... then it's probably a decent refurb. I am going to try to grab one of these myself for the bedroom.

I didn't realize that having a sports venue with corporate naming rights, is a sign of high quality.

I'll remember that the next time I step foot in Pizza Hut Park, in Frisco, TX. Or the 1-800-ASK-GARY Amphitheater in Tampa, Florida. Or the Bojangles Colsieum, in Charlotte, NC.

If you'd rather a new tv (2 yr limited warranty + 30 day tv return deal) of the same size and rez Woot's parent is selling a TCL 40" 1080p one: http://www.amazon.com/TCL-L40FHDP60-40-Inch-Limited-Warranty/dp/B007BKMFK0/ fairly well rated on the zon (22 reviews, looks like 4.5 stars, and is the #1 selling tv at the moment there.) It seems to also play some file formats natively (usb port and a thumb drive perhaps?)

Was curious about the quality of refurbs from Hisense. Couldn't find any reviews for this particular TV, but these reviews indicate that the refurbed products are a good buy.

forever fighting the urge to buy something just because it is cheap and cool...wait, it's cheap and cool, let me click that big yellow button!

BUYER BEWARE!!!!!
Go to Amazon.com and check the reviews of these TV's, "NOT GOOD". I checked 6 of them and they all had terrible reviews. Now I didn't check every TV set, so there may be good ones here, BUT,,,,, so far the trend is bad.

So yes, they are cheaper at Jimmy's and there is a darn good reason why they are cheaper to. Because they are built cheap.

Maybe not but if this company has the money to buy naming rights it's a good indication that it's a big company and not some guy in a one person office slapping "Hisense" on some tv's that fell off a truck.

We got my Mom a 32" Hisense TV a couple of years a go at HHGregg. It was $299 and a great deal at that time. It has an excellent picture and has done well for her. If we needed a TV I would be all over this like a cheap suit!

All but one of the 7 computers I own are refurbished and all of my TVs are as well. Generally, I look for refurbished. Yes, they were returned because of a problem. However, if you knew how manufacturers repair them (not assembly line) you buy them as well. Never gotten a bad refurbished electronic item.

I went to there website and looked at the unit. Doesn't sound as if it was manufacturer refurbished and doesn't state that it is. In addition, UPS shipping is another $28.08 to where I live. Finally, I've bought a lot of stuff from Woot and have never had a return problem. Don't know anything about these folks.

Here's a link to an AVS forum discussion on this set. If you're not aware, AVS is where some pretty serious A/V enthusiasts hang out and banter... so realize some comments are from folks who are used to some really high end equipment.

I just got back from Walmart and saw these on display. When I was looking at the different screens I did notice that this brand had a very crisp picture.

I was interested until I saw the brand name and passed because I've never heard of them.

Low and behold I come home to find them on Woot.

All I can tell is you is that when lined up against name brand TVs I honestly felt this brand had one of the better screens.

I Have a 42" 1080p LED Hisense, and I must say the quality was a lot better than most of the other TVs I compared to at Walmart, believe it was $380 and so far the TV has been nothing but great, even the speakers aren't so bad that you have to run out and buy a surround sound system like so many other HDTVs. It looks better than my 52" LCD Aquos and my 50" plasma Panasonic.

There are HDMI Hubs - and they work fine. You can probably find them online for less than $20 - less than $10 if you shop around enough.

There's nothing that stops you from using it as a monitor, *IF* you have an HDMI output from your video card.

The refresh rate is going to tend to be lower than a proper computer monitor, so if you do a lot of gaming or the like, it might detract from the experience. Otherwise, go for it, have fun with it!

Ok, I bought one cause I wish I'd bought the 42" on that was here the other day... you really can't beat this price, though. I've been shopping 26" LED sets for a different room and the decent ones are often more expensive than this.

Anyone know the protocol on signing up for the Square Trade Warranty? Do you have to buy it today, or can you buy it when the TV arrives? Never got a Big Woot before (over 100.00)

I can attest to the quality of HiSense! These hit the market farly recently and I got mine at Walmart for a steal right as they were putting it on the shelf! In a line up with Vizio, Samsung, and other typical big TV brands, this TV actually looked the best, and for half the price, and yes it makes a decent computer monitor too, if you like overly large screens. It obviously blows the image up a bit, but it was fantastic for playing games on! We played Star Wars The Old Republic on it and the tv caught up just fine with the graphics, though our computer itself handled it somewhat slow - the cutscenes played perfectly, so I assume anything else would too.

I don't think anyone can be disappointed with this woot.

I guess it would've made more sense to add 'Seeing out the era of backlit LCD'. I said that meaning, by them selling these older LCD TV's for so cheap, they are killing two birds with one stone, and ending the supply, bring us all slowly in to the new era of televisions... Because heck, we'll all eventually be tired of our old LCD TVs and feel the next step is SmartTVs, right?

I'm sure he's cool with being a trained puppy right now.

I'm sure it makes his father happy (which is always nice) and in most cases, in the END, usually what Daddy owns ends up in the possession of said trained puppy. (and possibly a couple siblings.)

Not nice to think about but hey...

Of course I just picked one of these up for the family's lake house.. ;)

Same here. Most of my electronics are refurbished.

Would you rather have something that just popped off of a robot or something that was looked over by an actual human being?

Answer: Depends on the item.

I pick and choose what I buy refurb'd.

With that said, I've had great luck with ALL of my refurbished items and generally the (calculated) risk is worth the cost savings.

Just googled around to see what I could find out about this product. Found some decent reviews at Walmart (I realize the source)- it was for the 42" ( I figured close enough). The first review pretty much sold me on the product, especially if I can find the person they are referring to in the review.
