at this point in time I would suggest Kansas and parts west.

Northern tool, harbor freight, home depot or Lowes usually have a good selection.

I'm not a prepper but after experiencing rolling blackouts in the dead of winter as well as a 24 hour outage during the height of summer I thought it prudent.
Most of our outages are localized due to weather or equipment failure so refueling should only require a short 20 minute drive.
