Considering you only have one cat and a small house, I would advise you against biting the bullet. The Dyson DC 41 Animal is more than twice as expensive as this vacuum. The Animal can probably suck the fur right off your cat with the ammount of power it has.

I would urge you to buy this Woot deal. You will not find a DC 24 for a better price elsewhere. Do not be like me, passing up the last deal and waiting two months for this one to show up.

The Dyson DC 24 is also one of the top reviewed vacuums. I cannot personally vouch for the effectiveness of this particular model but I can for the brand in general. Yesterday, I vacummed my house which has not been vacuumed for 2 months using the DC 33. It picked up a plastic shopping bag full of dust and hair. I opened the filter compartment to see how much dust had clogged up in there. To my surprise, the filter was like new. It was completely white and I could not find a spec of dust. Actually using a Dyson has made me a believer in the effectiveness of its cyclone technology. I now understand the concept of lifetime filters.

The Dyson DC 24 is also very easy to push. The ball mechanism is so clever.

Refurbished Dyson products are like new. All the parts are professionally cleaned. The filters are brand new. Mine was refurbished and I could not be happier with it even if it was new.

Hope this helped!

If I didn't already have a vac I would be pretty compelled here - you raise a lot of good points.

I'm just hanging out, really.

We bought this exact model about a month ago from Target for $119.00 (it was marked down plus we got a $50 Target gift card). My wife found the Target deal and couldn't believe it-just checked what Target is selling it for the other day-$399.99.

This is our first Dyson and we love it! So easy to maneuver, and it's so compact-but it does the job no doubt. We have two cats, a two year old and a 5 month old, so floors get dirty in our house and this vacuum has done a great job. It's our first bag less vacuum and we love it. We can see all the cat hair and dirt it's picking up as it's doing it. Emptying it is not an issue or inconvenience for us.

We definitely recommend this Model-and this woot price is half off retail.

I guess If you see it being sold every other week for 3 years, eventually you will give in...
In for one
I just moved and I needed a new vacuum anyway.

Love Woot and Dyson. Warranty on new Dyson is 5 years. Something to think about. I primarily use and really LOVE my Roomba however.

does it ever bother anyone else that a lot of reconditionedd dyson vacs show up on woot? it does not inspire me. i guess another way to look at this is it should be 'beter' than new since it has been repaired and tested.

Does this really do well on hardwood? Closing on a house in a few weeks and don't want to get anything that will scuff the floors up!

You can turn the brush off for hard surfaces so there will be no scuffing. Our whole upstairs is hardwood and that's what we do.

Is this woot.com or am I being redirected to dyson.com? Enough Dyson already. I feel like I am choking on vacuum cleaners.

Doesn't seem like overkill at all-I thought things like this would come up a lot more often since they have to find a ton more crap to sell on all of the different sites and side deals, but that hasn't happened yet. Kudos to the minion herders for finding new inventory to fill up all of the millions of categories that exist now with the same number or fewer repeats.

I'm guessing Woot has Dysons 5-6 times a month, are you sure you're logging on to Woot?

Have two, love both.

No more Dysons for a while, Woot. How about a nice frozen drink blender?

Sorry Mistriss Thighs - I already own the DC17 and it has survived three disgruntled teenagers who believe household chores are forced labor, a tumble down a full flight of stairs (yes, disgruntled teenager #1 was involved), daily abuse use to clean up after 2 black labs + 3 cats + 1 fish (fish flakes anyone?) + the aforementioned disgruntled teenagers + 1 construction husband (fully assembled daily, often comes back dirty).

I could ask you the same thing- according to the Woot! main history, the following Dysons have been offered, in the following order, since the beginning of 2012:
DC33
DC33
DC35
DC25
DC25
DC33
DC24
DC24
DC25
DC24
DC25
DC35
DC23
and this one, a DC24. That's 14 this year, making the Dyson rate right about 2/month. (Note that this includes Dysons sold during woot offs, which is about half of them.)

Granted, this is only for main, but even assuming the rest of.woot has the same combined rate (which I don't believe it does), that would still make the total Dyson rate only 4/month max.

Now, going back and looking at it, looks like I don't have a very good shot at seeing that refurb'd DC41 animal I've been hoping for. :-(

Anyone else seeing a strange error for the USPS tracking info for their Dyson? Clicking gets me nothing but the following on USPS.com

"Delivery status information is not available for your item via this web site. A return receipt after mailing may be available through your local Post Office."

Give it a business day to get scanned into their systems. If you still don't see any action at that point, feel free to email service@woot.com for assistance.

This vacuum is definitely sized for a small house or apartment. It is lightweight and maneuverable. I used it to clean up a bunch of short pine needles after we took out our Christmas tree, and it got hopelessly plugged up in a spot that cannot be readily cleared upon disassembly. I had to use a drain-snake to clear the clog... took me about an hour of work to restore suction. Never before have I had a vacuum that involved so much "let's see what's wrong with the vacuum and then vacuum this again".
