Well, how do you fare compared to the Zeitgeist? Chat up your fellow wooters and let us know how lame this poll was or what obvious choices we missed. For example: Was this poll a) STUPID, b) DUMB, c) POINTLESS or d) ALL OF THE ABOVE?

Tull was the best performer ever rush ok but no talent like the lead playing a flute and can get into your head without know what you are on. He is like good art the eyes follow you everywhere.

One song title- Dust in the wind.

I love Supertramp with the undying passion of a seven-year-old who thought "Take the Long Way Home" was the greatest song she's ever heard, and am properly ashamed of this fact, but it ain't prog. Well, except for "Fool's Overture."

Out of the list given, Jethro Tull would win, but come on? Everyone who said Pink Floyd is right. With honorable mentions to King Crimson and The Alan Parsons Project.

Off the beaten path: Amon Düül II, maybe Hawkwind.

I accidentally quoted myself, so I'll take this space to add Caravan. Most of their stuff is just okay, but holy crap is C'thlu Thlu a great song.

I don't know or care what makes one "prog-rock," or any other sub-genre for that matter, but Rush is one of the greatest bands ever!

While I voted for Tull, particularly their early work, I do think Pink Floyd is the greatest rock band ever, a view shared by many of my peers. Also kudos for them acknowledging that some of their work was pure crap until they got serious.

1970-'77 Gentle Giant = The most talented, versatile & astounding band, prog or otherwise, ever. ELO & Supertramp = not really Prog. Caravan = Canterbury Scene.
Other great Prog bands:
Premiata Forneria Marconi (PFM), Happy the Man, Camel, Renaissance, Pierre Moerlen's Gong, Mahavishnu Orchestra. Return to Forever = Jazz/Fusion but one of the great bands of all time!

Oh, and Emerson,Lake & Palmer not even on the list???

Emerson, Lake and Palmer. Pink Floyd is ICONIC, but is more psychedelic than prog-rock. "In The Beginning" is transcendental.
