It will show up rolled up and vacuum packed. Should be wrapped in plastic and another burlap type cloth. Instructions will be to let in unroll and air out laying flat for at least one day

Yeah, it is great on the knees if you are on it alot....relieves the pressure. Great for gramps with bad knees who like it doggie style, and gramps who are too fat go get up, requiring grams to get up and do the work.

I saw a SULTAN FINNVIK memory foam IKEA that I have been thinking about. It's $349 and you buy it in a roll too. I might go back and try it out for a longer period of time. My main question is what do you do with your old mattress? I think it's too big for the garbage men to haul off. I have a reciprocating saw, I can cut it up into chunks and bag it. The FINNVIK has about 2.5 inches of memory foam on top of some other kind of foam.

That wouldn't happen in my hood. I would just leave it out and it would be gone pretty soon.

As for trying it out in Ikea.. you should lay on it for a while to see if it has pressure points, whether you like the sinking in feel. If you like rolling around in the bed alot, you might not like this.

Convection implies there's a powered fan forcing air through the mattress. Unless this mattress plugs into an electrical outlet, the cooling probably relies on conduction more than convection.

The mattress on the photo appears to be upside-down. The small segment of foam at the (pictured) bottom of the mattress is in fact the memory foam. The larger segment at the (pictured) top of the mattress is a more rigid foam material.

Adding another "Me too.." to the collective internet consciousness.

convenction meaning that the mattress either has ducts in the sponge or uses eggcrate foam, and your body moving around provides the pumping action to move the hot air out.

Nah, that bottom part is the platform (not included) for the mattress. It's all good.

I have actually been studying memory foam and latex mattresses and construction of commercially available mattresses for a while now, and have a few comments about this setup.

I would not use this as a bed I slept on often. A four pound memory foam is a lower quality foam that will break down easier than a good five pound foam. This makes me wonder about the quality of the underlying support foam and how quickly it will break down.

Tempur-Pedic has many different mattresses in their line up and is considered a good memory foam maker, and their higher end mattresses use five inches of memory foam. That doesn't mean that two inches wouldn't make a great bed for some people who don't need a extra thick comfort layer.

In the end you will get what you pay for and this may make a great bed for a guest room, but I wouldn't want to spend the money and find out later it was a bad decision. For about twice the price you can use good quality materials and make a do-it-yourself memory foam mattress that will last you five years easy.

It felt very nice at Ikea. I only laid on it for a minute. My hood is a culd-de-sac so not much traffic. I did get rid of a kid's mattress one time. Listed it on Craigslist. I said it wasn't firm anymore, but had been in a protective cover the whole time. It was snagged rather quickly. Then later I read on Craigslist you cannot post mattresses. Mine is so old, I wouldn't want to wish it on anyone. I would probably get sued for back injuries if someone grabbed it and it wasn't comfortable for them.

Don't do it! I bought 1 of these about a year and a half ago. I threw it out after a year. Think about it. If something comes to your house rolled up in a duffle bag sized tarp and needs a day or two to "inflate", don't you think eventually it will deflate? These are made in China and they smell of chemicals. I replaced it with a memory foam mattress that came in a large queen sized box and didn't need to "inflate".

If so, it looks like the price over there might be a better deal, if you don't want the bonus pillows.

[Mod (TT): I had to go all the way through the purchase process but shipping was $26.73 to me for the full-size mattress.]

thanks for mentioning that! the picture in target is exactly the same, and is 20 dollars cheaper than this deal (for me)

every foam mattress I've seen has been designed to be used on a solid foundation. As previous posters suggested, if you have a box spring you don't want to get rid of for height reasons, you'll want to put plywood or some other solid platform underneath the mattress.

Hate to ask but how would this mattress hold up to a fat guy sitting on it all day long playing an MMO or watching cartoons?

Will he leave a permanent dent? Will it hold up?

If you see some of those cheap mattresses that has those funny colored outer covering (and no stitching that goes thru the whole what feels like the outer cover), it is because they got some old mattress and sewed an outer cover onto it. I don't think they will snatch up yours for such use though. Those refurbished mattress has to at give the impression that they are not worn out.

They will deflate only if the closed cell foam bubbles pop and they lose their viscous feel, after that, they end up like cheap foam. Some foams wil not deflate like latex, even if it needs to be inflated to reach its full size.

I bought a tempurpedic about 5 years ago and it's great. One thing to realize, these are not tempurpedic as it's only 4 pound foam, not the 4.5 (regular) and 5 (HD) or so that tempurpedic uses. However, that shouldn't mean much for comfort unless you're really heavy. Heat dissipation can be an issue, but the comfort with no aches or pains beats that out and you can always buy heat-dissipative sheets or use less blankets.

The smell comes with every memory foam mattress unless it's used, that is merely the air pockets in the foam exchanging air in and out, bringing the smell with it. It's not harmful and goes away within a month. If that is keeping you from looking at memory foam products you would be a fool, there is no better mattress in my opinion and it requires no power unlike it's competition. I have sleep hypopnea and this bed makes sure I sleep the best I can while using my C-pap.

If these mattresses are the same Sarah Peyton memory foam mattresses that Woot has sold in the past (which from the stats, they appear to be), then these prices are horrible. You can find a better deal on Woot's parent site, Amazon! Eligible for Prime shipping, too.

Upon further comparison, I've noticed that the pictures are exactly the same, so I'm convinced that they're the same mattresses. I'm officially disgusted with Woot. Sad day

Caveat emptor:
Great mattress if you
a) Love the smell of chemicals
[it took a month of being unwrapped to not smell like it was downwind of a Dupont factory]
b) Enjoy sleeping in a hammock
[after half a year it had developed a 2"+ sag, and I am underweight for my height]
c) Get cold very easily at night
[it envelops you in foam, so air circulation is reduced, heat retention up]
d)have a bony body
[on my old, normal mattress, I'd wake up because my hips and shoulders hurt--not so with this one]

In short, I couldn't use if for a month, then it was three months of sleeping heaven in the winter. Then the sag started, and the weather warmed. It was like sleeping in a Turkish bath in a hammock. I hauled the old mattress out of the attic. Flatter, cooler, but my hips and shoulder hurt again.

In short: don't cheap out on a foam mattress.

What return/guarantee do we get if any?

How does this compare to lets say a $700-$1000 bob o pedic bed?

What company makes the bed? Why does it now show the manufacturer?

I don't know how this particular mattress compares to a bob o pedic but I do know the bob o pedic does not "wear" well. It gets saggy in random spots and not evenly. I have a Serta iComfort and love it! The memory foam works wonders for sleep and helps with my sleep apnea.

You will likely end up with a dent after some time...my memory foam has gotten a little softer in the pressure point spots. If you are sitting on it all day every day, at some point, you will get a dent as they are designed to have your weight distributed. On a separate but related note...I have seen tempurpedic office chairs at staples

tzstlouis wrote:Regarding box springs or slat type foundations - these memory foam beds require a FLAT foundation. They need a full flat surface for support.
Get a big flat plank of thick plywood to serve as foundation if your bed doesn't provide a solid flat surface for it.

We purchased a "no name" queen memory foam mattress from amazon about 18 months ago (LOVE IT!) it's the most comfortable bed in the house. (it's in a guest room, and everyone loves it)

It's supportive, very firm yet comfy, we always have a fan on in the bedroom, so the heat buildup thing has not been an issue with us.

There is some smell when you unroll it- just keep a window open for about a week and it will dissipate. Be sure to unroll it RIGHT where you want it. These suckers are too heavy to be moving around.

The price is great. I want another one for the master bedroom!

Hi,

I'm a nube 2 Woot. I purchased first then read the return policies. So it looks like if this purchase was a mistake it may just be easier to eat it. Not a bad thing in my case though as I have a WOM (Write Only Memory) c^;

It's great that 2 pillows come with this as the other night I drempt I ate my bed partner so sadly I'm down to one partner. I was so thirsty I drank a gallon of hot chocolate.

The other meaning of my user name will be reflected by this item.

It can take up to 5 business days for items to get processed and shipped. This was the 5th business day so it's probably set to go out if it hasn't already.

This item was drop-shipped and the vendor has to send us the tracking info to upload into our system.

EDIT: Removed FedEx Track by Reference info because I'm not sure who the shipper is.

I used your method, but no info.

If all Woot! purchases are going to be like this... (wish they told me an estimated shipping time before I made the purchase!)

This item was drop-shipped and the vendor has to send us the tracking info to upload into our system. Sometimes Track by Reference will work sooner in these cases.

You can use FedEx's “Track by Reference” feature to get tracking info using your order number. Your order number is on your receipt which you can get via Your Account. Leave the Account Number blank. Enter your order number in the reference box. Next, select your country and enter your zip code. Click TRACK and voilà, you may have tracking info.

Again, business days which means Mon-Fri. Today is the 5th business day so it will most likely ship today. Give the shipper a day or two to get everything scanned and in their systems.

Actually, I just realized that I don't that these are shipping FedEx because they are drop-shipped from the vendor. You'll need to check your tracking number for the right shipper URL. I'm going to edit that above.

When it's drop-shipped, the vendor has to send us the tracking info and then we upload it into our system.

Feel free to email service@woot.com for an update on shipping.
