It looks like a lot of fun and I have a lake right in my yard. But $449 seems steep for an inflatable.

I may not be remembering this accurately but I think that when I first starting following Woot, about seven years ago, most of the deals were fairly inexpensive and usually very interesting gadgets. Now we seem to get a lot of HDTV's, Dyson's, and well, now boats. Maybe it's not possible to go back as the revenue might not be high enough but I sure miss those days and I hope some startup comes along to replicate that sort of deal site.

Sooo with you on that one, I don't really get all that excited anymore. I scroll through the multitude of woot sites and say "eh" and go to bed. Sorry, Woot, since Amazon (whom I love) bought you, the deals haven't been all that inspiring. That being said, they had an inflatable kayak a little while back for less than half this price, that was very tempting.

...anybody want a peanut?

I would much rather spend that kind of money on a kayak than a blow up.

I could not agree more. I've been a Wooter for many years and used to look forward to checking the daily deal, as the clock rolled around to 10 o'clock...but in recent months...meh. It's almost always a disappointment.

Like you all said, miss the old days. But this much for an inflatable is truly ridiculous! My buddy just bought a two person kayak, paddles, and life vests for around $550! If this were <$100 I'd probably get it..

Oh and there's one guy that actually got it from Texas.. lol

Something for those with more money than sense. Seriously though, you can probably get a real paddle board for $500, why would you buy an inflatable one?

A traditional SUP is more in the $800-1200 range. This is a good deal if you want an SUP but don't want to find a place to store a 12' piece of equipment. This one rolls up to the size of a (large) sleeping bag--pretty convenient. I'm new to the sport, but am as fast on this as others on traditional boards.

I paid $580 for this package on Amazon a month ago--may buy another here now for the spouse. You get everything you need to get it on the water and have fun.

Stand up paddle board are usually a grand or so. Once in a while you'll see a steal on craigslist for a few hundred.

But walmart online carries a well known inflatable brand in SUP form. And it looks cooler to for 489 so this isn't really a great deal. Woot really has gotten as bad as it can when claiming things are "deals" all the time..

I bought this from the actual owner in his store here in SD for my girlfriends birthday about a month ago. She wanted something easy to transport and fairly light that she could take out easily alone. Through research we came across this inflatable by accident while shopping stores in SD online.

I was initally completely against the idea thinking it was a flimsy toy that would burst and be useless. I was pretty set on a "name brand" board for her as the cheaper newbie boards are all pretty heavy.

I went in person figuring I'd cement my idea of it being a pool toy, I was wrong. After visiting and seeing the board in person I was sold, it is very well made. The rubber is identical to that on a Rigid Hull Boat, very thick and durable. I have used her board as well (6'4" 220) and it floats me several inches above the water. This is considerably better than any of the several rentals I have been on which all seem to keep me about and inch out of the water.

She goes all the time and is very happy with it. I have only been about 15 times total but the price of renting boards is adding up. Taking turns on hers isn't as fun as riding together so I might be in for my own, gonna sleep on it.

For those interested the owner was very nice and answered all of my newbie questions without the typical surf shop snobbery. The other boards in the store looked high quality as well and there was a good amount of foot traffic both when I ordered it and picked it up. Even though I paid more (495 for the board alone) I'm satisfied with the experience.

The last I checked, the regional kayak/SUP store/school carried slightly more inflatable SUPs than hard boards. All were in or over the $1K range. Also, my neighbor has two hard kayaks but uses his inflatable almost exclusively now. As the owner of two kayaks myself, I'm sure the same economics hold, you can get a $450 SUP (or kayak) for $450 which might be fine for a lake paddler but if you want something you can truly enjoy or push, it's worth doing the research and buying something better.

what's happened to woot? why is everything $250 or more now? site redesign is garbage, but that doesn't mean you have to offer garbage "deals" as well...
bring back the cheap deals website. if i'm in the market for something $50+, I'm NOT searching for it on woot. lmao.

I remember seeing the owners of this product on Shark Tank last season:

Skip to 1:36 for the segment.

This is not a very good deal. They were offering this for around $399 or so when the shark tank thing aired.

On their own site they list this for $495:

https://www.towerpaddleboards.com/Inflatable-Stand-Up-Paddle-Boards-p/bd-twr-bnc-6.htm

I have wanted a SUP for quite some time. I just don't want to spent so much on them... I am not sure I would enjoy it/use it enough to justify the price. I say skip this deal... unless you happened to be looking for an inflatable SUP.

I did not like how they priced them high on their website but offered them at %50 off cost all the time. It just seems like a cheap tactic to get poeple to impulse buy. "ohhhh I don't want to miss half off on the board... I must buy this now." mentality.

I was very good at clacking with clackers. Mine never broke either.

Added to my August list. FYI: I usually turn in a list after woot-offs so I'll be holding these until after the August... assuming there is one, of course.

I think it I'm gonna spend $500 I'd like the option of returning the item to the point of purchase if dissatisfied. I agree with a lot of the posts. I used to have to find reason not to woot because it was fun and it was a deal. Now I'm just making a bunch of sympathy woots due to nostalgia of what we once had. Oh well... Would love to get this but anyway you slice it, it's not a deal. Just like this amazon site is not woot so sad

And another thing. Why isn't this a sport.woot item?!?!!!! I don't understand all these categories anymore either. If ur gonna sell (or at least offer) so much stuff, shouldn't the deals be better (not worse)? I didn't take economics in college but sometimes common sense is -well, common...

They are holding the paddle backwards in the Woot demo video.

Now this is how you hold that paddle...
