He's still at my stepmom's, but we're picking him up this weekend. He's a chinchilla. His name is Dusty. He's about 6 now.

Both parents born in Hong Kong, immigrated to Canada, I believe as adults. His mom still maintains her HK citizenship. We stayed with family when we went to HK a couple years ago. Hubby was born in Canada, but didn't speak English until he went to school. His mom's English is...interesting (see facebook photo posted today for an example).

My kids went to school with lots of kids who learned english in kindergarten.
In nyc kids are in english as a second language for years.
I don't know what we do, but they totally can understand you and talk by christmas.
