Seems nice, except that Costco has the 20pc set on sale with coupon starting today. Coupon is -$6.

I haven't checked yet their price yet... anyone know who has the better deal?

No, sweetie, ALL glass will explode (or craze) if you put a cold glass on a hot stove, a hot glass into a very cold fridge or freezer, etc, etc. It is the nature of glass. Exception: some laboratory glassware.

I think each size is stackable within itself but a rectangle one won't fit in the square one. Make sense?

These are a great item. Costco used to carry them and they do not have them any more. Also, Bed Bath and Beyond carries the "new" version but those are not oven safe. Great price for a great product! .

i often make a big batch of oatmeal for the week--how long would i have to wait (or would i have to wait at all?) to put the hot oatmeal in the fridge? or is the temperature of the oatmeal not hot enough to be a concern in these containers?

My mom has pieces of this set, and they seem to be decent, but I would side with Pyrex over these. The snapping pieces of the lids start to eventually snap off with prolonged use, and don't forget Pyrex is made in the USA, these are not.

In my experience, putting a dish full of something like that in the fridge normally shouldn't be a problem. It's more of a concern if you've been cooking something in the dish in the oven and the glass itself is pretty hot.

I have had the same experience. I absolutely abuse my circa 1992 Pyrex and none of it has ever cracked, shattered, exploded or crazed. I frequently bake bone-in chicken with no liquid in the bottom at all, at 425 and take that 13x9 right out of the oven and set it on the (room temperature) stove top (ceramic/glass). No issues.

Still.... I am tempted to buy a set of these just for food storage.

We're not a fans of 'folding-plastic' hinges (the clasps). After a lot of uses/stresses they tend to snap off.

We prefer covers that do not require clasps.

Disclosure: We've got some 20 year old Rubbermaid containers still in use. We don't microwave food in plastic containers.

Regarding the nasties in plastic, we haven't noticed anymore odd behavior in our kids as they've grown up other than the normal weird, obnoxious behavior. And they're all at least 4 feet 3 inches tall or taller as adults - don't you think we're ok?

Sure, but your Apple may not work after spending 30 minutes in the oven at 425 degrees.

Woot 4.0 really cluttered up the page eh? Now you have to click through to get product details on the "read more" text.

You can read more here.

P.S. Click on the "specs" tab.

I was going to buy these until I read the negative comments at Amazon. Exploded when set on stove when hot, chips easily, etc. Going to buy 18 piece Pyrex set from amazon for $32 shipped! Much better product (4.5 stars with 302 reviews) for only slightly more!

They stack in four different sets.

I really like the Pyrex set. I have purchased 3 sets of this 14 piece one $23. I like the bowls because I make healthy soup and then freeze them for latter use. No problems with them shattering from heat or cold but I did drop one and boy, did it explode. Even worse was the amount of glass shards EVERYWHERE! So I am very careful as to not drop them (can be slippery). They do nest a little for better storage.

Edit: The price was just raised this morning from $23 to $29.95 and the seller changed from Amazon to Beach Camera. Interesting!

Costco isn't open yet here in CA, and they don't have the snapware on their website. The coupon is for the 20 piece set, but I've found links that refer to the 18 piece set as normally being $29.99 at Costco. One mentions a $6 instant rebate bringing it down to $23.99. Unless someone can confirm the 20 piece price after coupon, I think woot's the better deal.

Hm, this was $19.99 in Amazon Goldbox just 3 weeks ago. Free shipping with Prime, of course. $24.99 with shipping here hardly seems like a deal. Clearing out stock that Amazon couldn't sell?

CowboyDann wrote:I have a lot of Lock n Lock tupperware and I love the lids.

I have both, I got my snapware from costco about 6 months. I trust the lids on my snapware more than the lock n lock. It sometimes takes a few tries to get the lid lined up perfect but once you do those things are sealed. My husband calls them fort knox containers.

I primarily use these for transporting and freezing smaller portions of meals and have not broken anything (hope I didn't just jinx myself!). Apparently I'm not creative enough in the kitchen...

I prefer these for storage bc you don't get stains on glass. I use my lock n lock for more pantry storage: dried fruit, pasta, opened bag of cookies; and my snapware for leftovers.

also, they kind of nest, you can see a tapered edge with a ridge at the top of the glass, they seem to nest about to the ridge. They are a bit of a mess in my cupboard and I usually won't tolerate that but these get used enough to justify the chaos.

I'd say Costco has the better deal (for one set at least). I checked these out last week at my local Costco because I knew about the upcoming discount. The price was in the 20s (I don't remember what exactly), so say $29.99. Minus $6 is $23.99. Add appropriate tax gets you to, say, $26. Woot is $19.99 plus $5 shipping, totaling $24.99 plus tax. With the Costco set you get an extra container/lid AND most importantly, a no questions asked return policy.

I love using these for lunches. Never worry about having to spill inside my bag unless I didn't lock down all the sides.

I have an assortment of these types of containers from different brands. I've been tempted to bake lasagnas right into mine, but have been too lazy to do it.

I bought a set of these from Sam's Club a year or so ago. I don't know if it's the exact same design, but I noticed chipping around the edges of the containers due to how they nest. Unless they've fixed this, they really should be recalled.

Be careful that there aren't glass chips in them before putting your food in.

Called the local Costco. 20 piece set is $29.99, minus $6 off until 9 Sept = $23.99, plus whatever yee olde locale taxxe is. Advantage Costco.

LOVE snapware. the black mold issue I had with lock & lock liners (link below) doesn't happen with my snapware. Costco gave me all I had space for, though. I cannot recommend enough- even the small ones I thought would be useless have been great for travelling condiments, leftover sauces, etc.

if you have the space, GET 3!
