We've got quite the map here! I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product. We've come a long way since the one piece I had last night.

MarkDaSpark wrote:Maybe. The 2nd piece I found was still under 1 page of comments. Should be at 2 now.

Edit: And that may only work on Woot discussions. Found one on Sport which was 77 comments, but not a treasure piece to be found.

True but look at all the other items around it and the amount of comments they have in comparison. It's a big jump up.

As for the other sites. From what I understand the pieces are only popping up on the main page items.

They say I have Attention Deficit Disorder but i don't th.... Ohh look a kitty!

Come on...I can't even imagine that anyone from the Woot! team will be staying up for 48 hours straight. Even they must have a tag team or something! If you can't do it, how are we expected to?!

I could tell you how...but then you'd have to walk the plank!

Hey TT are staff (you) of Woot allowed to participate? I did not people affiliated with woot could participate in this. If not no big deal and just a misunderstanding on my part, but just curious.

Paint.....when selecting pieces click under the selection options and choose "transparent selection."

I have a feeling this is going to be a click-through map. I've noticed various images on woot pages that reference the treasure hunt all have unique identifiers. Clicking through in the correct order is probably going to reveal the crap.

I suggest the excellent free program GIMP 2 - it's similar to photoshop. You can select pieces with the Fuzzy Select Tool (fourth icon in the top row, on the left of the screen) and clicking anywhere in the white space, then hitting (CTRL + I) to invert your selection so you are only selecting the map piece.

All images on a web page have a unique identifier. It is called the name of the file. If it was not unique all of the pieces would be overwritten by the newest one uploaded.

My How-To, using GIMP:
http://www.woot.com/forums/viewpost.aspx?postid=5167398

I found an easier method to remove the white background:

1) Select-->By Color
2) Click on white background
3) Select-->Invert
4) Edit-->Copy

You then can paste the map fragment into another picture containing the other map fragments.

Fill, O fill the pirate glass!
And, to make us more than merry,
Let the pirate bumper pass!'

I'll make it easy for any of you who need to go back and missed a piece or two...find the items in the blog, just open each in a new tab, and append "#read-more" [excluding quotations] to view the woot page. If you can't figure it out from there, Flying Spaghetti Monster save us all.
