Why in the world would you purchase this spec-ed laptop when you could get a brand new one with a larger screen and faster processors, better graphics and Ram and larger HDD for less than HALF the price of this??
No wonder APPLE is so profitable....the markup they have on such mediocre components is ridiculous

$15 more after shipping than an (Apple Certified) refurb of the same July 2011 model available here: http://store.apple.com/us/product/FC968LL/A

True, although Apple refurbs are generally indistinguishable from new, and come with the same 1 year warranty.

Did Apple buy Amazon when no one was paying attention? I've never owned an Apple product, and don't expect I ever will. Well, unless they decide to stop with the ridiculous prices. Apparently I am NOT the target demographic for Woot.

I'm not an Apple fanboy, but I have a genuine question for all the haters in here. Does anyone know of a sub 3-pound 11 or 13 inch laptop that makes a reasonable alternative to an Air? Looking for comparable specs to what's here, plus extra HDD space.

Why do you require sub-three pound? Is that really worth twice as much as a 3 1/2 pound laptop to you? Why is super-thin worth that much extra money? I don't like to pay for gimmicks that aren't actually useful. If you are somehow handicapped and can't lift more than 3 pounds, I apologize for my insensitive remarks.

I cycle/walk to work, spend time on the road, and I fly on business. My work laptop is an aging Latitude E4200, but its small-and-light form factor saves me a lot of hassle. Plus I'm lazy ;)
edit: What would you recommend at 3.5 lbs?
edit2: researching ultraportables. Everything seems to start at $1k, with the Vaio T13 clocking in at $800
