Although the Club and BLT are both serious contenders (mmm...bacon!), the Reuben is my fav.
Back in my Air Force days when I was traveling a lot, I used to be on a quest to find the best Reuben. It was a big letdown when I actually did. Best Reuben I even ate was in a hotel restaurant in Tacoma. It was off the hook awesome! I still order a Reuben when I can, but nothing has even come close to that one. Even worse, I've never had the chance to go back.
I voted BLT but unless it is tomato season, I'm with you on the gyro. MMMMM spit roasted lamby goodness with creamy tzatziki on warm pita.
But when tomatoes are in season, a nice BLT is just about the perfect sandwich for me. Nice fresh bread, lightly toasted, some of my homemade basil mayo, bright red vine-ripened tomatoes from the garden, fresh cripy lettuce, nice thick slabs of crispy hardwood bacon... Is it late summer yet?
