Thats a good thing. C batteries are often available in emergencies when all the late panic-ers strip stores of AA and D cells due to an oncoming storm.
This looks very much like the Rayovac Sportsman Extreme model (save for color); if so its a nice light, good life expectancy, lightweight for a powerful light that is still long and heavy enough to serve as a catwhacker and the smaller barrel is easier to hold and carry for those long night-time dog walks when its 5 degrees and windy and the dog just can't find the oh so perfect spot to leave his deposit...
