I only came here because I got a Wootalyzer alert and thought there was a woot-off. Then I saw the typo and got snarky.

Some pretty decent reviews over at Overstock, which has it for twice the price.

I was gonna sit on the 14 piece till tonight, but ordered an hour ago. I win.

This seems to be a new operating mode for woot. I noticed the other day an item ended and was replaced by another during the same day.

So much for one day one deal.

At last! Now I can give my wife a Dutch Oven she'll actually appreciate!!

Eh, I'd rather stick with the Lodge cast iron enameled Dutch Oven on Amazon. $53.99 shipped and great reviews, plus it's slightly bigger.

Saw the 14 piece set last night right after it was posted. Was already in bed and decided I would buy it this afternoon if it was not sold out. Came back to find a casserole dish instead.

I own this one and the lodge. This one is better for browning. Browning before braising is a very important step for developing proper flavor. The lodge has rounded sides on the bottom that wastes a lot of surface area on the bottom. It would only be worth passing this one up to get a 7.5 qt lodge to make up for all that lost surface area. This is a great deal.

They make metal casserole dishes? I always just used the porcelin ones with the glass lids. O.o

They dropped "one day, one deal" back when they did the site redesign.

This is a great deal since it's also oval. Oval means you can fit a chicken into it a lot easier since its longer. Round are great and work well for stews and chunks of meat. But if you have something that is long round dutch ovens don't work as well.

You can make awesome bread with very little effort using this.

No-Knead Bread

Use a little more salt than the recipe specifies. In a followup, Bittman said he settled on a little under a tablespoon of salt. Use between two teaspoons and a tablespoon and you'll be OK.

I have a seven quart Cuisinart dutch over I wooted a few years ago. Sunday I braised a pork shoulder in it.

As noted previously, this would be good for long things and would have been great for the pork shoulder.

I also have a Lodge six quart enameled dutch oven, and probably could have used that, but the Cuisinart was in front of it under the counter.

How long have you had yours? I'm just worried that after a few years the paint will wear or chip and it will be ugly...

It's enamel, not paint, so it won't wear, although it could chip if it gets whacked or if the temperature changes too fast. My Cuisinart dutch oven hasn't chipped yet and I bought it from Woot two-and-a-half years ago. I don't use it every week, but I have used it twenty times or so, and I've moved with it.
