They've changed their mind. It's a bowel obstruction, which I've always thought was inside the bowel. The doc described it like when a clown twists a balloon. They gave him medicine for it, which kind of blows my mind. How does medicine untwist a bowel? Anyway, they'll know by morning if it untwisted or whether he'll have to have surgery.

Never go to the er on the weekend.
It took them 10 hours to decide to operate on Son's appendix and it was burst by the time they did it.
Maybe it has burst the night before....but now we'll never know.

Empty er. I'm thinking it took that long to find a surgeon .

So many businesses work 24/7. A hospital is an odd choice to not work full speed on the weekends.

He's having an ultrasound in the morning. D-i-l has told everyone in the hospital that they are not leaving until he has a surgical appointment.

Edit: I have two of the grandkids here.

It's good you can help with the kids through all of this. I hope they sort things out soon.

Good morning everybody! We've been to the beach. I didn't sweat quite as bad as I did pushing the lawn mower in wet grass.

Poof, I am praying for your son. Hope they get him fixed up ASAP!

Ultrasound tomorrow morning just to make sure, surgery scheduled for around noon, home tomorrow night. Not hurting anymore. Evidently all flushed out. Was on Dilaudid.

Yes. It's usually only mentioned in reports if there something went wrong that delayed the results. In other words, if the test takes 12 hours, and there's nothing that can be done until the results are back and no way to make it happen faster, it doesn't make headlines. If the test should take 5 minutes and a tech takes a smoke break and then forgets, it's all over the news.

whew lots to catch up on!

Glad #2 son is feeling better - hope they get everything fixed! We had the same issue with my mom regarding no-weekend MRI's when she was in NM. frustrating.

I kept the 7 month old great nephew over-night on Saturday. He only ate dirt once, and I think I got it out of his mouth before he swallowed any. That kid crawls like a demon!

Son is out of surgery. They're keeping him overnight because the gallbladder was so enlarged and infected, but fortunately nothing in the bile duct so laprascopic surgery was sufficient.

Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts and prayers.

I think his wife has taken care of that a number of times. And he kept trying to tough it out in the hospital without pushing the button for pain meds. Supid men.
