This is gross. He has a pus bag to drain from the site. That will be there until Monday because it was so infected.

This is not my day. I made chicken salad for son (one of his favorites) and while I was watching the news it suddenly occurred to me that I used Miracle Whip instead of Hellman's. I just rinsed eight cups of chicken. Will start over shortly.

Morning!

Bummer on the Miracle Whip. There isn't much that I like it for, so we don't keep it in the house. Hope son recovers quickly!

Regarding pictures...

Here are three pictures I snapped yesterday, mostly because the spider was back.

Obvious crap...out of focus, bad framing.

Not terrible focus, but awkward framing.

Better. Focus is acceptable, framing could be better.

None of these are what I'd consider great, as they all have loads of room for improvement. Using my phone means the picture will be rectangular, unless I crop it. Lighting will be natural, or LED flash, so that impacts color, unless I feel like editing it.

If I did...Well, I'm still learning that.

Using g+'s online editor.

Compare to this picture taken with the DSLR.

Depth of field makes the lily sharp, so it draws the eye. The fairy moss (the red stuff) follows the rule of thirds, into that center contrast. Focus is clean, no extraneous bits that need to be cropped out.

And the 'cleaned up' version.

Played with saturation a little, and color, since the flower actually is a pale creamy yellow. The lighting sucked (it was raining), and washed out the color.

If I'm using my phone, odds are good that I'm not willing to 'go for the shot'. It's a casual picture. I'm not going to knee in the wet grass to get the best angle, I'm not taking 10-15 shots, I'm not fiddling with settings too much. Point, shoot. Lather, rinse, repeat and move on. If I have the DSLR, I'm there to take a picture. Laying in the grass, contorting to get the best angle, looking at the background, thinking about framing, depth of field, exposure...In short, with the DSLR, I'm TRYING.

TL;DR...camera phone is quick and easy, but results are hit or miss. DSLR is not quick and easy, but results are slightly weighted to the hit side.

My speech is not parsing. I am speaking in ellipsis.

What I love about hospitals now is...they will keep you for days because you need a test and it is a weekend or holiday.
Then if you have something gross like a puss bag, they just send you home.

close.

in the imageshack page, under 'links to share this image' there's an option for direct.

if you paste that inbetween the bbcode tags for an image.. you'll get something like :-

(img)http://imageshack.us/a/img268/8321/52q3.JPG(/img)

you'll want to replace the parentheses with square brackets, but it should give you an idea.. if you use photobucket, I think there's a specific link for bbcode links you can just copy and paste the whole thing... I'll check.

edit: nvm. I see you got it in the end.

BBC == Bulletin Board Code

This is the forum codes that are accepted on woot and other BBC enabled sites. It is also coincidentally the initials of the British Broadcast Corporation or whatever.

I find my best phone picks are about on par with my worst dslr picks. Considering that that a phone takes in hundredths or thousandths of the light of a dslr it isn't that bad though. I usually use my phone for information (like notes, buisness cards, stoopid Hershey's Kiss people have done...) and my dslr for aesthetics (bugs and flowers.)

Still single, can't imagine why.

I stand corrected and most sincerely apologize.

I have only ever seen it referred to as BBCode, never BBC nor BBC code.

my post shall be removed shortly, it had simply been meant in jest.

There's a teeny strip of a cemetery next to the parking lot at work. It's maybe 30 feet across and about 150 feet long, with maybe 25 graves. I can't see most of them clearly, but the one closest has a death date of 1909.

Good morning everybody! Daughter and I had fun shopping yesterday. Elizabeth got lots of new clothes that she didn't need. We have been to outdoor concerts and she has enjoyed them. She like music. We took her to a cello concert at church and she enjoyed Bach and Mozart.

Good heavens, after a week filled with grandkids today I got up, had breakfast, read the paper, took a nap, had lunch, checked email, had a phone call, took a nap. I hope somebody's here late tonight because I don't think I'm going to bed until really late.

Just heard a loud noise, like something big fell. Unfortunately we can't find anything. There aren't that many places to look. Husband was in the living room and I was in the office and it wasn't in either of those two rooms. Hope it wasn't something important.

Wasn't muffled at all, so it couldn't be in the basement. (Stairs to the basement are out in the garage, so nothing close.) And if it was in the attic, it means the house is falling apart because there's nothing up there.
