I was looking at a product. I went to close the page, and somehow it hit place order.

Within 2 minutes of that; after finding out, unlike every other online store, that there is no "Cancel order" button, I emailed them, less than 5 minutes after it had placed the order.

I just got an email; saying it cannot be cancelled as the item has shipped. The email came within an hour of my accidental order, and they are saying it's shipped already? It was the basic shipping option.

One could say it's my fault. That's fair, but not being able to cancel within 2 minutes of an accident order? No option to do it on the page, I have to email?

Usually when you hit "Place your order" there is a confirm page, or a "View details", then it will place this order.

A slight misclick and now I am receiving a product I Jane. Stop this crazy thing!, and they will not refund me on.

The website still says:

Accepted

Yet they are telling me, that within an hour of my hitting that button by accident, it's being shipped and there is nothing they can do?!

You must have clicked the Buy Now button on the details page and then clicked the Place My Order button on the confirmation page.

Read before you click.

Pretty weak that they won't cancel, though. Even Amazon doesn't usually ship that fast.

It is a "stupidly large button"...
They make it stupidly large for a reason.

welp, i can explain this, but a lot of folks don't really love the explanation.

when a person places an order, a label is created. the process commences.
hundreds - thousands - of labels are created in a day. it's a process that occurs for many, many orders.

hunting down the boffed label - haulting the whole process - isn't easy (from what i understand).

anyhoo, i am probably grossly oversimplifying it.
regardless, i apologize to the OP for the nuisance.
hopefully you'll give us another shot.

We can process Paypal again! Kinda!

Not sure if you should post that? This slightly-nsfw-flowchart will help.

Every other website on the entire Internet manages to be able to cancel an order, as long as you cancel within a few hours of placing it.

Mine was within 5 minutes. It's also pretty sloppy to not have a cancel order button like...every other online service such as yourself.

Actually, I can think of very few places with "cancel order" option after you've placed it, and I've used hundreds of ecommerce sites of the years. Granted, it is possible that I am just not remembering some.

Nostromo Gamepad by Razer.

Funny bit is - page still says "Awaiting shipping"

So cmon here. They better refund me my money, and cancel it; they've had plenty of time!

My last order didn't ship for 5 days after I ordered. No wonder it's so hard to find the label - you must have thousands of them sitting there until they ship.

5 days?

God damned, and they have the nerve to charge for shipping?

Yeah, no more woot for me. It'll probably take two weeks for the damn thing to arrive and their paid shipping label'll take over a week too...

Most likely won't see my money back for a god damned month.

It's $5 flat shipping for everything, from gigantic TV's, mice and computers. If you order several items it works out to about even for a customer, assuming you do order more.

As for the shipping time, I would say normally it takes 2-3 business days for Woot to ship out the item but can take 5 business days. Woot has definitely become much quicker at shipping products out so most likely you will not have to wait too long.

From shipment it will most likely go out FedEx SmartPost and that will take about a week or so. Refuse the shipment and it will end up back at Woot. To refuse a USPS package, you can just hand it back to a USPS mail carrier or take it there yourself.

Good luck getting your money back.

Speaking of shipping time, what happened to the text on the FAQ that mentions the estimated shipping time? It used to say it generally ships within 5 business days. To avoid further confusion, might want to consider adding that back.

No.

Every other website I've ever ordered from ships the same day; if before noon, or the next day, at the latest.

Never 5 days BEFORE shipping.

I would like to know these websites. Granted, 5 days is awhile, but it was already said that the norm is 2-3 days. That's how long it takes amazon, barnes and noble, groupon goods... hold on, let me check my e-mail for "payment recieved" and "order shipped" e-mails... Joann's, Oriental Trading Co., What On Earth, ThinkGeek, Half.com...

And looking over these e-mails, occasionally some did take longer (my last Joann's order was 5 days), so it is not woot-specific. Further, woot has often sent my orders the next day; it is the only company in the past year that has sent same day, although that time is rare; never five days. That was probably a fluke.

At this point I really don't expect you to acknowledge this post, though. Honestly, I'd have a lot more sympathy for you if you weren't ignoring all the valid points made here that don't suit your needs.

It is pointed out to you that, actually, it is not one accidental click, you had to go through two pages. You do not respond to that.

You are apologized to and told that it can be difficult to track down orders as the labels are printed immediately. Your response is to repeat your complaint about not having a "cancel order" option on the page confirming your buy.

I ask what sites you are talking about that have such an option. You do not reply.

When you complain about the shipping charge, it is pointed out to you that that is flat rate for all things, which is actually an amazing deal... you ignore that.
(in fact, few things sold this wootoff would, by themselves, ship for less than that if they charged separate shipping.)

Come on. I even agree that they might be able to get a better system so that they can cancel orders placed quickly, but take a little responsibility here, acknowledge the valid points being made, and acknowledge-- not even accept, just acknowledge-- the staff apologies offered to you in this thread.

They probably have some guys checking the returns, and they haven't gotten to yours yet.

I assume the CS department aren't allowed to issue refunds all "willy nilly". You'll probably have to make more noise to get them to escalate your problem.

Well, Amazon replaced the original CEO with one of their own. Which should explain many of the changes to the site.

They are a subsidiary, but it is being operated "Amazon Style". The vision for site is completely different. I think you can gauge who is running Woot by what they do for April Fools day. Two years ago, they had a great Beany or Cecil video game, but last years seemed like it was thrown together the day before. This years is just a site launch. Where is the prank?

There are so many ways to have fun with Woot, but I guess my expectations are too high.

Still nothing. Quite annoyed here, I said above that it'd probably take me a month to get my money back, and it looks that way.

I contacted them and they gave me a DIFFERENT tracking number than what they gave me the first time...so while mine says processed, theirs says it isn't...I'm smelling some money grubbing going on here.

Let me get this straight...

You "accidentally" hit the ridiculously larger I WANT ONE button.

Then you "accidentally" selected a quantity between one and three.

Then you "accidentally" entered your payment and shipping information.

Then you "accidentally" hit the button to confirm your order.

Fascinating.

the product is still on its way back to us.
you can expect a refund 7-10 days from the date of receipt on our end, as explained on the return label.

the tracking link should be the same as it ever was (that information confirms the item is still in transit). we have no email records showing that we sent you a different/new tracking link.

we're not interested in swindling. it's a pretty bad customer experience and not terrific PR.

we are sorry this is taking a while, but you'll get your money back on the item you accidentally purchased from our site. in the meantime, we can only apologize and ask for your patience.
