Happy Music Monday! It's April 1st, and if you don't know what day this is, you're in biiiiig trouble. But if you do, great! You've guessed what our theme is this week! We'll let Scott get started with his first foolish choice:

Led Zeppelin - Fool In The Rain

A lovely song from an often-underrated Zep album, this fool is one of those guys who fell in love with the wrong woman. But if it wasn't for loving and losing, where would songs like this come from?

We get more foolish inside, after the jump. See you fools there...

As always, remember our Spotify playlist will be featuring a great selection from last week's Music Monday comments. The theme of the mix this time is Commercial Jingles and yet, it doesn't make us any extra money. How can that be? But before you start reminiscing, check out our current Music Monday, right now.

World Party - Ship Of Fools

Ever been on a road trip with your friends? Yes? Well, then you understand what a ship of fools is all about. Have fun now, pay tomorrow. Sometimes, though, it's worth it.

Thin Lizzy - Fool's Gold

All that glitters isn't always gold, and not every trip turns out positive. Just because there's promise, you'll still have to work if you want to succeed. Heartbreak and loss are always close behind joy and success.

Social Distortion - King Of Fools

Maybe you're good at pool, or poker, or gambling, or sports, or or or. But you're still gonna get your heart broken sooner or later. Is it any wonder so many fool songs are written about love? And speaking of which...

Steve Perry - Foolish Heart

Nobody gets to decide who they fall in love with. It just happens! Face it, the heart is the dumbest organ in the body. If only we could stop trusting it, maybe fools would be a thing of the past.

Foolishly quick this week. Now it's your turn to play the fool! Once you've shared your fool song, stumble into our Turntable.fm room for the regular Music Monday enjoyment. Also, let us just remind you: some images come from the corresponding Wikipedia page and are here under fair use.

Argh! All I can think of is Mayor of Simpleton, which is stretching it.

Does Energy Fools the Magician count? I know it's a verb.

Edit: Oh! Styx's Fooling Yourself (The Angry Young Man)

Am I the only person who always includes (The Angry Young Man)? I mean, it's part of the title.

I was for certain that this song would be chosen already.

Not one of my favorites but lets go for some more low hanging fruit.

I'll think up some posts of better quality and try to come back with some better songs.

I think of Lovefool by The Cardigans, which is actually atypical of their catalog and their biggest hit.

I need to figure out how to embed the video to make it even easier to view it. CowboyDann sets the bar high.

Only a Fool Would Say That

Fascinating to me because on my cassette of Can't Buy a Thrill, homemade, "found in a car" and appropriated by me approximately 30 years ago, this song was deliberately left off and I heard it for the first time only a few years ago. Someone hated it enough to leave it off an otherwise complete album, but filled the other side with James Taylor, Kenny Loggins and "Stuck in the Middle with You."

This album also has the song "Dirty Work". Its chorus has the line "I'm a fool to do your dirty work, oh yeah".

Also, Earth Angel makes liberal use of the term "fool" although it is not part of the title.

Roxy Music's Sentimental Fool

Apparently I'm going to keep on with this.

Edited to add: Fool's Overture by Supertramp. I don't expect you to listen to the whole thing; it's over ten minutes long and accompanying a kayaking video, for some reason.

The following instrumental music is probably NOT inspired by the above song.

NOTE:
It's the first song in the Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle soundtrack. I had it in my car, and my husband listened to it without any context at all. In the dark.

And the "words" are phonetic nonsense. Don't try to make sense of the magical nonsense. It will only hurt your brain.

Yup, nothing to lose!

Here's Martha Tilton's version of "These Foolish Things."

Here is Thelonius Monk's version of same.

Hey, I finally figured out how to embed youtube videos while replying to your post! Thanks!
