HDTVs

If you were to ask someone fifty years ago what the world would be like today, that person likely would've said that we'd all have robot butlers, flying trains, and personal spaceships. Well, none of that has happened yet, but we DO have these HD televisions!

Exactly how bad can a refurb be and still be sold for $900.00?

I think, therefore.."I-M".

It's actually a pretty good TV. Although I have seen it down to $850 BRAND NEW here. $90 more for a brand new one right now.

I bought the LG 47LS4500 about a month ago from here, and it's very good. I'm a little confused why it's priced lower than the LG 47LV4400, which sports a "worse" contrast ratio (although, your mileage may vary, but it's the same manufacturer, so I would think the comparison is valid) with more inputs. They have the same dimensions and resolutions, so the only distinction your $40+tax makes could also be rectified with an AV receiver or a switch and some cables.

Complaints? None that I can think of. It's kinda silly when you plug something in and it asks "would you like to enjoy this device?"

Well, I bought the Vizio 29" refurb last month and the audio shuts off intermittently. Just spent $30.00 to ship it back to the refurb center to fix and HOPEFULLY it WILL BE FIXED! So much for SAVING MONEY!

Next time, Buying NEW!

Refurbished items are likely to be even better than new items, because the refurbished item has been repaired, then tested more thoroughly than new items generally are because companies hate 2nd returns even more than 1st returns.

I've seen this sharp 60" for sale as a refurb quite a few times. Does anybody know what was fixed on the refurb? because it appears that lots of this type need to be fixed, but otherwise it seems like a great deal!!!

I bought this one for $455 back in January http://www.woot.com/offers/lg-47-1080p-led-hdtv-17. First time I hooked everything up, I saw some interference from other devices connected on the surge protector, but I removed the unneeded connections and the problem disappeared. My roommate claims there are times when the screen will change in drastically in brightness, as if it has been dimmed (or lit up)... I think he's just high out of his mind.

I am also slightly confused on the technical aspects of TruMotion. I understand it calculates intermediate frames and inserts them in order to achieve it's 120Hz framerate, which differs from true 120Hz refresh rates.

I use it for my main entertainment system (I have a small living room anyways, would have made no sense in buying a larger screen). Coupled with a pair of Jamo speakers I purchased through another popular deal site.

This is the perfect setup for me - cheap and effective. I would not shell out for 240Hz 3D television + 7.1 ch surround, and I have a decent amount of cash lying around. To each his own.

I'm confused how a 60" HDTV can have 20% more viewing area than similar 60" HDTVs. Is that even mathematically possible without changing the aspect ratio? Or is this like the infinite chocolate trick?

How do I know how long it will take to ship? I want one to bring with me overseas, and I am leaving in just 1 week .... The w00t faq says shipping varies by item, but there is no shipping info I see on this item

One week would be cutting it pretty close. While often faster, we ask that you allow 5 business days for your order to process and ship out. Add shipping time to that....

But the warranty on refurbs is only 90 days, so they can't hate them that much.

If I were a manufacturer, I'd certainly hate a return that I had to pay to fix much more than one that I didn't.

I recently purchased the 42" Vizio and love it. Granted I was upgrading from an old clunky 32". But still... I wish the remote was illuminated some how (light or glow in the dark) but no problems with the TV.

Bought the 42" HiSense last time. Love it. It's thicker than I expected, but the picture quality is nice.
