Yup. It's buh-bye for me. I've been trying to ween myself from the Woot for a couple of months now. So -- yay -- I consider myself weened!

$5 shipping on all purchases or x# of items on a woot off day will save it, it not don't expect them to go very well from here on out.

I tried to add items to my cart during the woot-off to save on shipping charges.

3 items were gone while I was searching for other items.

I liked Woot before all these items/categories were added.

Now it's just an opportunity to recoup the cost on loss leader items.

I think this is a great idea for a normal woot day. I would recommend that you bring back the all day shipping during woot-offs. I will no longer be watching as closely because let face it when something is on sale for a few dollars I'm not going to pay $5 shipping. The only way its justified or makes sense is that I expect that I will buy other things on the woot off as they become available.

Does this mean you're going to ship everything in one box now too? Can't tell you how much it bothered me to receive multiple small items in multiple boxes. Why not ship them all in one box??

I have bought a lot of woot-off items JUST to get the free shipping for the rest of the day for the off-chance that something else that interests me pops up.

If you offer $5 all day shipping for just woot-offs, then I am OK with this change. Otherwise those sales are worthless and I have a feeling I will not be visiting this site as much as I have been (and I have bought over 130 items on this site).

This really killed this woot-off for me. I rarely camp out these woot-offs, but actually found something that interested me today. Was going to stick around until I realized what was going on with the shipping. Very disappointed that I didn't unlock free shipping. Saw some other things I would've bought, but already checked out. So you lost a few sales from me.

As said by MANY others this essentially kills any interest I have in Woot-off. The majority of the deals just aren't that good anymore and now essentially adding $5 to each item - not worth the "feature" of having a cart.(yes, I've been around since the original one-a-day woot and remember when we paid per order shipping during woot-off, but those were actually a discount off the already good woot price unlike the present system that might be very slightly lower than normal price) Even on regular days probably half my purchases recently have been impulse buys later in the day after unlocking free shipping. Woot has turned into dumping ground for the same 1,000 items that just constantly rotate (oh good, more Shun knives and huge packs of batteries). You might was well just bite the bullet and list all the items all the time, call it Amazon Jr and include integration of Amazon Prime.

Maybe do something special during Woot-Offs like, buy anything during a Woot-Off and have an option on the first checkout to pay $10 or $15 for all-you-can-ship during the rest of the Woot-Off (meaning even multiple days). So all the more encouragement to buy tons of the crap you guys shovel at us over a 48-72 hour Woot-Off.

Not sure if anyone on Woot has ever been to whiskeymilitia.com, but they have a nice system. It's pretty much a constant "Woot-Off". You pay a flat rate for shipping on your first purchase, but you get the chance to defer the shipment of your order up to 7 days. Every additional purchase costs $0.99 to ship. So you pay for each item immediately, but the whole order won't ship unless it has been 7 days or you explicitly tell them to ship it. Of course you have the option to ship it immediately if you choose to.

TT-
Woot is the only FBA customer that I've ever dealt with who doesn't honor Prime.

Which is an extra kick in the face since you're owned by Amazon...

What is so unique about Woot?

My wife did a "cart" wheel now that there won't be boxes stacked up at the door. The downside: my mail carrier got a pink slip when this policy got around.

Since you're Amazon, tie it into my Prime?

Take away the cart and give us the $5 shipping for the day back! This will kill small ticket items on woot-offs! I wouldn't have bought what I just did had I actually realized this new, and stupid, policy.

And while we're at it, although it seems nice to have more things on woot all the time to purchase, the deals are less often 50%+ off and more often 20%ish off - not nearly as good. Why should I buy at a time of your convenience for that little off when I can wait and buy when I actually need/want the item?

I loved $5 shipping for a day. Woot-Offs were awesome. I bought so much more than I ever would with a "Cart". I was puzzled why Woot never combined orders. It was funny getting 10 separate boxes in 2 days. The Cart is a huge disincentive to buy anything on Woot-Offs.

I wish Woot would sync up with Amazon Prime. The Woot Videos with Mortimer & Monte could be an Amazon Original Pilot... they're funnier than Alpha House.

If they don't change something, their customers will. If not their customers, their competition will.

The mail room guy at my office could always tell when there had been a Woot-off, because a week later he would have cart-loads of boxes for me. I think I spent over $300 during the last one. I always bought multiple items during Woot-offs.

I bought one item today, then realized all day shipping was gone. I'm turning off my Woot-Watcher plug-in because the beeps that used to be exciting are now annoying me as I am very unlikely to buy anything else during this Woot-off.

As others have said, I may still buy during a one deal a day, but my Woot-off sprees are over.

I'll miss the $5 shipping for the day's purchases, especially during woot-offs. On "normal" days, it probably won't make much difference as I can select everything I want from each offering and go for it. But on Woot-off days, I'll have to be more selective of what I buy, because each time I'll be dinged with the $5 shipping (which, of course, is the way it used to be anyway). BTW, I know $5 all day shipping was a promotion and expected to be temporary, but I don't recall ever reading it was in lieu of a "cart" before. Seems like Woot is re-writing history a little bit.

As everyone else has already said...sad day for the woot-offs. And for the woot plus items, for that matter. I often would purchase a daily woot, or a woot-off item, that piqued my interest and seemed like a good deal, knowing I could quickly purchase it, and then COME BACK AT MY LEISURE later in the day and check out all the woot plus sales (or in the case of the woot-off, check as often as I could find time throughout the day) and get more stuff without paying the icky (and sometimes deal breaker) $5 shipping.

Let's face it...as others have stated, there are plenty of times when woot prices aren't THAT much better...even if woot's price is still a couple dollars cheaper than amazon after shipping, I'll choose amazon if it's that close, just for the better return policy when a product is defective or the like...

The woot purchasing experience WAS very unique, and in a good way. It was one of the FEW websites that I didn't mind paying shipping so much, because of the way shipping was handled. Let's just say I'll be thinking twice on future purchases, and will definitely not have any particular motivation to check back for "one more thing before midnight" if I do order again in the future.

Say goodbye to a big chunk of your impulse buyer crowd woot!

Question, Since I am very concerned about the color of my "box" if you purchase three items from different sites in one cart. Does this count as three different woots on my woot-o-meter box? Also if I buy two of one thing and one of another is that three woots or two woots?

I didn't read through all the messages, but I'm also pretty disappointed about losing the $5 shipping all day for woot-offs. yes, for regular woot days it's fine to just have the cart, but one of the benefits of the woot offs should be getting a slightly better deal and sharing that shipping cost across several woots did it for me.

absdrew

quality posts: 0 Private Messages absdrew

Bring back the $5 shipping all day. The cart idea is horrible. Items sell out so fast that you either have to keep paying and emptying your cart or the item sells out and you lose the item. LONG TIME FREQUENT CUSTOMER ... but this is a deal breaker for me. I bought 10 separate items today during the WOOT-Off (which are the best thing since crunchy peanut butter) ... but spent $50 instead of $5 because the items I wanted keep nearing sold out so I had to empty my cart or lose the item. This stinks, what a slap in the face to loyal customers.

Yep, I will be spending most if not all of my bucks elsewhere. It's a bad business move to offer $5 all day shipping and then, surprise! we changed our mind and instead are giving you this crappy shopping cart. Signing out and pretty sure this will be the last woot-off I will ever attend.

absdrew

... the worst part is the cheesy marketing and the way Woot presented the shopping cart as an "added benefit" and basically the same as the $5 all day shipping ... it is neither. I would rather they presented the idea for what it is, a spin on the need to increase shipping cost to cover expenses. I would respect that honesty and accept the fact that costs rise ... it's that simple. Most people who use this site are loyal, repeat customers ... and I know I have added at least ten additional people to their customer base through passing on the good word about the site.

wootshoop

quality posts: 3 Private Messages wootshoop

I have a beef with the cart.

There was 60%+ remaining of an item that had been on for quite some time (over 1/2 hour). I placed the item in my cart, went directly to checkout, clicked on the stupidly large "place your order button" and nothing happened. Clicked several times and nothing. Went back to the item and there was still remaining stock. Back to cart and it's still in my cart. Try again several times to place my order and nothing. Back to the item and now it's sold out.

What's the deal?

You take away the $5 all day shipping, and now I can't even purchase what's in my cart? At least before, I could click through and complete my purchase. And you've lost ALL my impulse buys.

I have no motivation to sit through the woot-off and no desire to recommend your site. This really stinks.

Wow Woot, you really lost me now. I planned on buying a bunch with the Woot Off, but with shipping per order? No thanks.

I'll continue to check your regular items and definitely see the deals tab, but my impulsive buying is definitely over. Thanks for saving me money I guess.

But please don't lie with the whole 'cart is a benefit', carts suck especially when you're dealing with a sale and it goes out of stock.

The new shopping cart is the complete antithesis of what Woot originally set out to be. Woot under Amazon has become a website dedicated to a dozen different sites.

Woot was originally one tech item a day at a good price but now it's basically themed Amazon Gold Boxes without Amazon Prime and the world's slowest shipping.

"Thanks" Woot-azon. It's been great knowing you. Parting is such sweet sorrow.

It seems like the new policy hasn't slowed down the woot-off a bit. Woot knew that some people will care but there will be enough others that will just continue to buy. Even some completely stupid items that were posted yesterday sold out in no time.

***Wooters be aware that the $5 all you can ship is gone*** You will now have to pay $5 for every order (not item, but order). Link to main thread with more details about this -> http://www.woot.com/forums/viewpost.aspx?postid=5411101
