Customer service from the people who licensed the Polaroid name for this tablet is horrible, it comes with Adobe Reader 9.1 as part of the base image making updates to AR impossible!

Where did I put my my quill and inkpot?

I got one of these here, a while back. A fine tablet, but prone to quirks.
First, it flat-out does not work for some folks apparently. Go figure.
Second, it gets a little odd sometimes when its power cable is plugged in. No idea why.
Third, no Google Play. You're stuck with Amazon and whatever third-party apps.

I'm considering getting this for my 5 yr old. Amazon has a SanDisk Ultra 32 GB MicroSDHC for $27

Ahh, there's your problem. Don't try to use 'update', instead do a full on 'replace'.
I just went to the Adobe website. For some reason, it auto-identifies as a Mac, but tell it you want the latest Android version, and Bob's yer uncle.

Ok, I have one of these. First, you're going to want this: http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.php?491-****OFFICIAL-Polaroid-PMID701c-THREAD!-root-market-and-more!

Secondly, you can install Google Play with a side-install, but the icon will still say Google Store.

I bought this thing as an attempt to supplant my laptop as a living room computing device, but it just doesn't fit the bill. It's too slow, both in straight performance and touch responsiveness. You can upgrade to ICS on this thing, but it breaks compatibility with quite a few applications so I recommend against it. It does have a video/audio out element to it, but it's a component cable, and proprietary, requiring you purchase it from Polaroid.

I'd say it's not even worth $50 to me. I'm disappointed in it.
