Well, how do you fare compared to the Zeitgeist? Chat up your fellow wooters and let us know how lame this poll was or what obvious choices we missed. For example: Was this poll a) STUPID, b) DUMB, c) POINTLESS or d) ALL OF THE ABOVE?

I always liked The Phantom. And how about Brenda Starr? But what we have the most collections of is Peanuts, followed by Foxtrot, then Zits.

Pearls Before Swine and Mutts both have their charms, entirely separated by seven oceans of taste charms.

Like Poe? Of course you do, you're here ; ) Try my new mystery novel:

No Garfield, The Far Side, Baby Blues, For Better or For Worse, or Get Fuzzy?

As someone else said, Mutts is also good.

I don't meant to troll, but I've never liked any paper comics. Ever. Just don't get it. Sure, the occasional appearance by HST was cool, but whatever. I think most people who enjoy the funnies have it embedded to like them because their dad and grandpa did. Mine didn't, so I don't. Maybe?

I almost felt bad having to choose between C&H and The Far Side. It almost feels like comparing apples and oranges cause they are both so awesome in their own way but in the end it had to be C&H.

Garfield! I didn't have to think twice about that one.

**sigh** It's gotta be BLOOM COUNTY!
I sure do miss Bill the Cat...

Though C&H, Get Fuzzy, Pearls Before Swine, Doonesbury and of course the classic POGO would also warrant a nod.

Pick a favorite? That's like picking a favorite child (that's moved away and now never calls). Loved C&H, Bloom County, Far Side and Doonesbury (it was much funnier a couple decades ago).

Absurdity is apparently a dying art. Either that or picking out cartoon artists is a dying art.

I would argue you never got into them then. Pick up a C&H book and read it, and tell me you didn't enjoy it when you are done.

While it was tempting to choose "Calvin and Hobbes," the truth is, there are few, if any, strips today whose creators weren't in some way influenced by "Peanuts." (Bill Watterson himself acknowledged the influence that it had on "C&H".) For that, it gets the title of 'Greatest Newspaper Comic of All Time.'

While I believe its Calvin & Hobbes, Get Fuzzy is a very close second and should be an option.

The Peanuts is the most important, and I guess you could say greatest, but Bizarro is the most consistently laugh out loud clever. Dan Piraro is a genius.

Get Fuzzy would have been up there 2 or 3 years ago. Its boring now.

Pearls Before Swine is on of my tops; along with Dilbert, Zits, Fox Trot, and Overboard.

And then there's the family circus, just waiting to suck. It ruins everything you read before it.
