Happy Music Monday! Two weeks ago, Scott saluted Doctor Songs in honor of Doctor Who's anniversary… which is still about a month away. So, this week, Scot's doing a tribute to mistakes. Why not join in?

Men At Work - It's A Mistake

What made this song a hit? It's catchy! Men At Work pretty much spearheaded the Australian Invasion of the 1980s with earworms like this anti-Cold War song right here. If you don't enjoy it, YOU have made the mistake! Hey, think I could get a professional DJ job with patter like that?

It would be a mistake not to keep enjoying these songs! So see you after the jump.

Split Enz - My Mistake

Looking back on your life, you'll find plenty of things that were mistakes. Of course they made you better, but they also got you into a position that made your life a little bit harder and, ultimately, worse. But life isn't a video game. No takebacks. We are where we are. Even if where we are is creepy as Hell.

Ben Folds Five - Brick

Some might say the actual recording of this song was a mistake, but other people enjoy it, so whatever. This story of a kid who gets his girlfriend pregnant is… well, it is what it is. Possibly it was also parodied by Marilyn Manson which is kinda neat.

Buzzcocks - Ever Fallen In Love (With Someone You Shouldn't've)

Not many songs about mistakes also make a technical mistake in the title! This too-long, poorly-apostrophed pop/punk/rock hit squeezed into a weird little corner of music history by pulling up an emotion everyone in the world knows. Because the truth about mistakes is that we all make the same ones, over and over again.

Jellyfish - New Mistake

Of course, not all mistakes are negative. Sometimes making a mistake can take your life in a new direction and you come out better for it. That's the type that I prefer, myself.

It would be a mistake not to stop by our Turntable.fm room for the regular Music Monday enjoyment. Also, let us just remind you: some images come from the corresponding Wikipedia pages and are here under fair use.

Although more well known for Major Tom, surely Peter Schilling deserves some acknowledgement

Surprised this didn't make the list...It's a double mistake both from a content perspective and really, Children of Bodom covering it counts as a mistake as well

Thanksgiving by Poi Dog Pondering is all about celebrating the mistakes that got your life to where it is now. My wife and I had friends sing this during our wedding ceremony.

Despite bringing to mind the over-played insurance commercial, I submit The Human League - (I'm only) Human (born to make mistakes).

P.S. LarryLars - love your contribution!

The original was by Player. A later version by two members of that group is also out there. The H & O reference comes from the youtube post where they say "Baby.." sounds similar to the Hall & Oates song "She's Gone". I couldn't find a version of "Baby.." performed by H & O.

Ray Stevens is mainly known for comedy novelty songs, but he had some pretty good serious ones, too, like "Isn't It Lonely Together".

Yep, it does sound suspiciously like Howard Jones. "No one is to blame" - hey, that fits this category too!
