FWIW, I had the s3's with identical wire insulation and lost audio in the right bud after only 3 months of use. Unless you're willing to purchase these knowing that they will fail and you'll need RMA them, I would recommend going with a newer model that has the improved, flat, ribbon type of cable. I will say, However that Klipsch Customer Service is great, and the RMA process was a breeze.
Have you tried turning it off and on yet?
