Not a fan personally. I bought two sets. My understanding was they were not optimized for push button with android. Turns out it is worse than that, when using it with android devices the sound output was lack luster, and even at max volume it was lower than a $5 set of gas station buds.

While the sound was great on the ipod, one of the buds died after 2 weeks, maybe 4 uses.

I would stay away.

[MOD: Sorry for the problems. Did you contact Klipsch. They have a 2 year warranty. ]

Android users beware! Headphones that advertise iPhone controls ONLY receive full functionality with iOS devices. Apple uses a different electrical configuration, and without an adapter, these will just be dumb headphones.

I don't have this particular model, but I have the android compatible S4s (not the rugged ones, but essentially the same guts)and the sound is very good, probably the primary attraction. Volume is perhaps a little lackluster, but isolation is very good. I would describe the sound as warm but not over-saturated. The highs are accurate but perhaps lacking definition somewhat, bass is very good but not overwhelming. The included silicone tips are asymmetrical and very comfortable on my model. Mine have been sturdy enough as it is, and I rarely worry about them beyond the ever present worry I may lose a silicone tip. Compared to my UE600s (which have balanced armature drivers, so this is kinda comparing apples to oranges) they definitely have superior bass and better definition at higher volumes, but less overall definition at average volumes (around 50% on a cowon J3)

These ear buds have not worked correctly since the day I bought them. One side rarely works properly. Maybe I got a bad set...I don't know. What I do know is they suck and I regret buying them!

I bought these on Woot late last year. Had them about 5 months now. They've seen light use on an iPhone 5, mostly for audiobooks.

No complaints. Sound quality and build quality are good. I think they look stylish. The big buttons are a godsend for when I'm walking outside or inside and have to pause my audiobook to talk to people. (I get interrupted a lot when listening to audiobooks.)

Also used them on a few flights, worked well on the plane and traveled well.

I bought these back in Oct/Nov on Woot. Really like them. They fit well and stay sealed nicely. I like the cord and controls, the the cord does not tangle up nearly as easy as regular wires. I recommend---good price.

Yes, these are designed for i- Apple products. Per the Klipsch site:

The Image S4i Rugged’s audio works with virtually any device that has a standard 3.5mm headphone jack; however, the mic and three-button remote support select Apple products.

Have had these for 1+ yr now and they have held up great. Great for daily commute, they sound great and keep out the sounds of my fellow passengers. Also hold up great on long, sweaty runs. Had the non-rugged Klipschs and while great ear buds, they just didn't hold up all that well.

There's a link to the Apple Compatibility list in the Features. Looks like iPod shuffle (3rd, 4th generation) are a go.

They've got better sound (bass especially) than the ones that come with iDevices or than the Apple $99 ones. Isolation is pretty good, with 4 sizes of earbuds, you can find one that fits. No problems so far.

Does anyone know how these compare to the Image S4's and also the Image S4 II? My original S4's broke over the weekend and I'm trying to decide between these and the S4 II's ($38 on Amazon.)

They broke how they always break for me: the wires in the cord at the plug broke. I'd like to see a picture of plug end on one of these rugged ones, but I can't find one.

I'm sorry, but no. I had a pair of these and tried to use them for running and they come out as soon as you get the least bit sweaty. The reason is that huge, heavy volume & play controller, which bounces around and slowly yanks the buds out of your ears. These are the worst for running.

Was $15 less last month per dealnews.

As one of its daily deals, Woot offers the Klipsch Image S4i Rugged In-Ear Headphones in four colors for $34.99 plus $5 for shipping. That's the lowest total price we could find by $9, although we saw them for $15 less last month. They feature moisture resistance, an extra large 3-button wired remote with microphone, full music and call control on select Apple products, and four sizes of oval eartips.

FYI. This referred to a different klipsch earphone & I don't think Woot (Amazon) would source counterfeit stuff, but this is what people may be finding, if much cheaper.

I'm in for 2

Unless Klipsch is directly selling counterfeit themselves, then ours are the real deal. If you get my drift.

I'm wearing a pair of S4is right now in my work laptop. They're not the rugged version, but they should have basically the same innards. They sound fine. Nothing overly awesome for audiophiles but the lows and highs sound just fine for peasants like myself. The volume buttons obviously don't work with Windows 7, but they make for something fun to play with when you're sitting on a conference call.

You should totally get these then, because the buttons on these are HUGE!

(on top of post-it notes for scale)

I bought these after losing my S4is on a plane, and the controller is pretty big/alley oop. I wish I would have gotten the standard S4is again.

I'm REALLY picky with headphones and earbuds.

These are excellent earbuds. A little bulky design-wise, but very good soundwise.

At this price, they're a no-brainer.

Buy them.

I bought these on Woot a while ago. I would get them for this price. The sound quality is comparable to standard Klipsch Image S4 - great for the money. It is true that these may be little unwieldy for running even if you wrap them around your ears and follow the instructions, but they work for me for 30 minute runs. And, if they don't work out for your exercising, you will still be left with a really good pair of earphones that you can use while studying or commuting.

Good Buds, Sound Great. Just sucks that they only work completely with the Apple family. You could have put that in BOLD LETTERS maybe? I am watching you, oh hell, I've had my eye on your...... It sucks that I spent 30+ bucks earlier for these buds, and find I needed to read The Woot Fine Print. I am a good customer, and I have no time for this.

I bought these recently from woot and haven't found a use for them. The are reasonably comfortable, sound is acceptable, but the control pod is HUGE. I'm sure they intended for it to be easy to use when working out, but for casual use it is far too big and bulky. I have other IEMs from Denon and Sony that have performed much better for my use.

The dealnews link referred to the exact same model from a reputable source. If your post was meant to discredit dealnews by implying it as a source for counterfeit goods you need to back up your statement with some proof.

The s4's are very reliable and these rugged editions are great aswell. I've owned a pair of beats tours, and I prefer the klipsch. Durability issues with the beats were to much to handle. Sound wise there wasn't much difference. The booming bass that is present in the tours you will also find in the s4's. Klipsch is also very easy to deal with when it comes to warranty matters. my 1st pair lasted 16 months so I sent them a picture of my receipt, 3 days later recived a brand new pair in the mail simple as that.

This comes up every time woot has headphones with mics and controls.

These work fine on the majority of Android phones. The play/pause/answer/disconnect button does what it's supposed to. Only the transport controls are non-functional.

I've used these exact headphones for 6 months on an S4. Previously, in my family, we've used S4i's and S5i's on an EVO, S4, and Nexus S.

The controls do not work on my gen 1 Nexus 7, but that's because Asus didn't include the 4 pole jack, it's not an Android specific thing.

So yes, they don't have the exact same functionality as under iOS. But you still have some, and it works fine for the functions I mentioned above. If you need additional funtion (FF, FW, Skip, etc), there are some apps that you can get that will allow you to do those things via long presses, double clicks, etc.
