I just bought one of these at Academy for $49.99. Their brand and it weighs a few pounds more, but half the price. It stood up to some good winds just fine as well.

The Academy item is NOT an E-Z Up. It's knock off by a Chinese factory! Look it up. You get what you pay for!

Absolutely true. These are darkening shelters meant to give you shade. I would not want to use one during a lightning storm, though.

These are great shelters. But a word of advice. Don't buy the angled-leg shelters. The dimensions given are at the base of the legs. So canopywise (what everyone cares about) the 10 x 10 with angled legs is really an 8 x 8, and the 12 x 12 is really a 9 x 9. I assume there's supposed to be some benefit to the angled legs (other than making you think you're getting more for your money), but I don't know what it is.

I know and I stated that in my post. Also stated that it held up very well during windy use. Sometimes cheaper is just as good.

Sorry I didn't comment on your earlier post.

I already pinged Woot Staff earlier this morning for further info.

Presumably it's a discrepancy in the features listing however we'll post here with any updates as soon as we receive them.

Nope. In fact, if you add them to things, those things will actually get heavier, not lighter.

Thank you! I came to find this out. the straight legs are better, IMO.

Can you tell me the following things about specs:

1. Size of the closed carry bag (l/w/h)
2. Whether the carry bag has wheels and a drag handle or just carry straps.

I particularly want to know the former to see if it would fit in my car.

I happen in the market for one of these right now. Thanks in advance.

Something to consider when buying one of these: E-Z Up sells replacement parts to repair it if it gets damaged. I used to have a similar shelter that was a different brand. It got knocked over in a high wind, and one of the scissoring struts broke. That company did NOT sell replacement parts, and in fact the struts were riveted together, so we had to trash the whole thing.

Can you confirm if this shelter actually casts a shadow? I don't see a shadow in the (badly photoshopped) product photo ;-)

I was able to grab the 10x10 Sierra II from Sears on Clearance for $60 and was able to use coupon code SEARS5OFF50 to take an additional $5 off.

They also have the Sierra II 12x12 for $90.
