I purchased the Mint Hard Floor cleaner from WOOT. It does not travel over expansion joints in a concrete floor. Just be aware of this fact.

Do you know if it has any difficulty in handling grout joints in ceramic tile?

Purchased the Neato XV-21 last time it was here and I couldn't be more happy with it. I have two cats that both shed like crazy and on the days the Neato runs, I come home to zero cat hair on hardwood and rugs. I also have tile but it struggles a bit on that surface.

It's also super loud. It's basically the bottom part of a vaccuum cleaner.

Overall though, it's great. Super easy to setup and schedule. The collection container is a good size and the filters are pretty cheap on Amazon.

steer clear of that MINT cleaner, if you have already cleaned with a regular hand sweeper then this will just move around on top of it... i can post a video of it not doing anything if there is a bit of dust lying around... another problem it keeps dragging the dust it collected from other places and scratches the floor while trying to clean.... its not even near to gud..wat a waste of 180$.... i lost trust in woot after their response of not taking back the unopened item

GadZOOKS, I'm happy with this thing. Bought it when it was previously offered. To be clear, it's an automated Swiffer Sweeper and Swiffer Mop, really. But it does a great job at my house, at least. The floors feel so nice and clean, and it even goes under my bed & dresser to sweep up dust and dog hair!

Love my XV-12. We call him suckbot and he is awesome.

My Mint crashed this morning. I worked pretty well but was much better sweeping and washing tile. You can attach a Swifter sheet.

However, this is all irrelevant now. I went on line to see if I could fix it and discovered Roomba bought them out and now markets there own products using the Mint technology

Check out the Neato XV-12 Robotic Vacuum w/ Bonus 2-Pack of Pet & Allergy Replacement Filters ($40 Value)on clearance for $209.00 at walmart.com with free shipping. This is a great deal on a new unit. I'm disappointed that woot is charging $249.99 plus shipping and without the bonus pet and allergy filters.

I feel like I comment on the robot vacuums every time, but I have updates!

We purchased our XV-21 in May 2013. Bruce, First of his Name, was great for about six months, then needed a new battery set. Neato sent this out at no charge, as it was under warranty. Bruce again started to have battery issues about a week before the 1 year warranty was up, so we called again and they sent us a whole new XV-21 (they DO charge $26 and change for shipping, but hey, we'd gotten batteries, so I had no issue with this.)

Bruce, Second of his Name, did okay for about two months (replacements have only a 90 day warranty- BE ADVISED!) before his LED screen stopped responding. This is, apparently, an issue with some of the later XV-21s, so be on the lookout for this defect if you order.

Bruce, Third of his Name, came last week but, unfortunately, was an XV-12, not an XV-21. Called Neato, seems it was a shipping mistake and they are sending a NEW new XV-21. Bruce, Forth of his Name, should get here this week.

Anyway, long story short: Neato customer service is REALLY helpful, and they definitely DO stand by their products, AND their products do work VERY well. You, the consumer, however, need to be on top of your warranties to get the best possible service and outcomes.

Wal-Mart has an available 36-month extended warranty for $36 bucks. Based on all I've read, this isn't a bad idea. (It includes damage from "normal wear and tear.") What do you all think?!

EDIT: I should have mentioned that the 36/36 warranty is for the Neato.

I would definitely go for that. They work great, but there's lots of little moving parts to wear/break.

Thanks for that advice. I will follow it! Last question...

I have seen YouTube videos in which the XV-12 appears to be as loud as a 10-cylinder diesel engine. But perhaps that is just the suspect audio properties of the director's camera (i.e., cell phone).

Is the unit actually really loud? I plan to primarily use it on my wood floors at night.

Can't speak for the 12, but the XV-21 sounds much like a jet engine. You probably won't want to use it at night or even when you're in the house.

Yeah, ours is set to run every day at noon for this exact reason. I mean, you want more suck, you have to have a larger motor, and that means more loud. We just make sure the cat toys, shoes, etc are up off the floor when we leave for work each morning. Oh, also the bathmat. Does fine with other rugs, but he tends to get wound up in the bathmat.

Edited to add: yes, the XV-12 we have temporarily is the same amount of loud as the XV-21.

Can vouch for the Mint. Works pretty good actually. Always seems to pick up something I miss.
