We are having a Sunday mid-day wedding. There is no theme except for trees incorporated in the design of the invitation, thank-you, place card, and ketubah. If there is anything, then it is a loose naturey feel. We are hoping to be out doors, but July in Philly may be hot. We were thinking of fans for that reason. I am going to be in semi-casual, organic, sweat-free-labor (probably not sweat free on the day) clothes in natural colors. She is going to be in a beautiful ivory dress with a basket weave design. She is beautiful already and will look absolutely stunning in this. We are working on all the wording and actions in the ceremony to be egalitarian. It is also a weekend event, so our different communities can get to know eachother. If you follow my picture posts in the chops, the base url is our wedding site.

perhaps all, but I like to think that I am just trying to forge an equal partnership. If this day commemorates our relationship, is it right for one person to design and organize the whole thing? That sets a paradigm for the ensuing marriage, IMHO.

I agree with you, stl. i wish my husband were more interested in family and such.
Last weekend we had a get-together with his family which was combined with a wedding shower for his niece. I picked out the gift, paid for it, wrapped it, and provided a card for him to sign.
He never even thanked me.

They could also make a CD with a slideshow on it...showing pics of them younger, growing older, then together, then nice little phrases in between.

And you would only have to make 1 CD per couple. And it takes no time to burn them...

heh, I have put quite a bit of work into this wedding already. I hand sewn all the invitations among many other things. We pretty much split the labor between us, though she does more of the calling during business hours since I am an elementary teacher and find it hard to get to the phone with class going on. I really like the bulb ideas, and other posts have started me thinking. This is the creative juice I was looking for. Right now I am pretty brain-fried after three solid days of writing student reports. I was hoping to be done today, but tomorrow is another day. Sorry if you got the impression I was blowing off your ideas. I am very glad to receive them.
