android/ios device controlled? Doesn't sound like is going to have to much range to really play with this thing.

Amazon shows 165ft 'control range', assuming that is distance from controller to craft.

The included 1000mah battery should be good for about 10min flights before needing recharged.

Ugh. I want one of these so bad, but I want more range and more flight time. There ARE larger batteries available.

These things have a notorious history for random parts failing (camera\wifi\usb) I would be flat out scared to buy a refurbed one.

The video shows a closed prop design, but the woot shows an open prop model.

Which one is it?

One is the indoor body the other is the outdoor body.

From what I have read on these, it comes with the indoor body(for protecting the props in close quarters) but can be removed for outdoor use which extends the battery life a little bit due to the reduced weight

Well being a huge kid who always wanted one of these things, Jumped at the chance to get one at a descent price from a company that I have ordered from in the past...

After 8days of processing it showed up on Saturday Horray!!!

I unboxed it, looked over the manual and charged the battery, after which I began to continue my youth as a common poor kid that wanted everything and was given what was needed.

Long boring story short, I began my first flight, the drone lifted up 2ft and motors cutback and it dropped back down to the box it came out of.

With the screen on my iphone flashing a message."Ultrasound Emergency"

Esearched on line via, YouTube and drone forums with no help. So needless to say I am hating woot.com right no.

I got my AR.Drone 2.0 right away, but needless to say it doesn't work. For being a refurbished unit you would think they would refurbish it, but I charged the battery for the 1 1/2 hours, then used my android phone and the software to control the quadicopter, and pressed the lift off button and it flew up 2ft and then back down to the ground, it won't stay up and I can't put the indoor body on, cause then it won't lift off the ground at all. This really sucks for the price I paid for this unit. I really wanted it to work like it is suppose to work right out of the box. Not have to return it or repair it.

This is my only Woot return I will have if they take back returns.

Has anyone else had this problem with their unit straight out of the box?

This is not good, it has about a 10 minute usage and only goes up 20 feet. the controls are horrible at best. The styrofoam body separates from the motors and battery each and every time it leaves the ground. I had to put tape on it.

I would consider the Parrot AR Drone the worst item i've ever purchased on Woot. I am a customer since the middle of April 2006!
