Fake gold on a watch= FUGLY

I have an Invicta with a black face...otherwise similar. I have had it for about 4 years. After a couple years it needed to go in for service because the motion winding wasn't working right. Had few problems since the repair..although the motion winding doesn't last for more than a few hours if it is off my wrist...like overnight. Otherwise..keeps good time.

thisispeace wrote:When I talk to my marketing buddies, it sounds like most of the POS watches are going to disappear because of cell phones. Kids apparently don't care for watches when they're already carrying around something that has the time on it. Rolex and Omega remain as status symbols, but Fossil and other entry-level manufacturers have taken a hard hit, and are trying to figure out new designs that have value.

That's not really true. The key to any good watch is finding one that fits your look and personality and doesn't look like all the others out there. People will always wear watches. FYI, not everyone wore watches before cell phones came out and not everyone wears watches after they came out. There's also things called clocks and a variety of other devices. Wearing a watch is a matter of preference. Many professionals wear them to look organized or whatnot and so they don't have to pull out their phone.

I think all the people saying no one uses watches just never paid attention to the fact that they weren't universally worn before people had fancy tech gear to tell time for them. It's always been one part fashion/looks and one part practicality. They'll never be universally worn and they'll never be completely gone.

The watch looks nice, but I agree with others that the color is awkward on it.

I have a citizen NY0054 watch that uses the same movement in a titanium case. I bought it because I frequently find myself underwater, mainly in pools, but occasionally in the ocean. If you get a quartz watch for diving, replacing the battery is a bit expensive because the case needs to be properly sealed to maintain the waterproof/resist rating. This Invicta will not need battery changes, so should give reasonably long service. My citizen is accurate to about 15 seconds per week, and has been reliable for the 6 months or so I have owned it. I don't intend to maintain it other than keeping the case clean. When it gets too sloppy at timekeeping, I'll just get another watch.

Can't tell if you are being sarcastic, but since this is an AUTOMATIC, there is no battery.

Agreed.
While I think this watch looks godawful, is overpriced, and is of an incredibly dated style, watches are still being made and sold, even the "POS" ones. As technology develops, new and interesting ways of telling time are also developed:

Just thought I'd point out this is a gain of (roughly) 146.7% not 250%; Still not bad, though.

Anybody seen any change in their account status yet to show this thing has shipped? It was (per the blog) supposed to ship on the 18th with 3 day shipping, but no info as of yet.

Just asking - And yes, I've received my last two Woots with (still!) no change, but it's always nice to know ahead of time if FEDEX or UPS are gonna require an in-person audience, like with the Nexus XM radio...

This is my first woot purchase and I was wondering the same thing. I am glad I am not the only one wondering.

Me, too -showing it shipped on the 18th, all right, but with a scheduled delivery date of the 26th. So much for three-day shipping, I fear.

Hey Woot, What's up with the 3 day shipping? If these shipped as advertised on 12/18, why no delivery until after Christmas?

Mine says shipped on the 18th, won't arrive until the 26th. Was extra spent on three day shipping with UPS? Eight day shipping...what a great new shipping option at UPS!

I am seeing the same thing as well; emaied service@woot to express my disappointment.

We'll see what response I get.

I dig the appearance of it. The blue/gold will work nicely with my USAF dress blues without making me look like a Blue Angels wannabe (we have enough of those among our own pilots here at Fairchild). Read some sub-par stuff on the automatic capability of it, but I'm used to carrying a 50+ year old Soviet pocket watch that had to be wound every morning, so that shouldn't bother me.

R.I.P. Invicta watch. Mine from Woot lasted just over two weeks before ceasing operations. The automatic movement never worked more than four hours, and no manner of winding, swinging, etc. helped.

I'm on a work trip now and will be looking into the warranty when I get home.

keeps poor ime sent it back twice and it finally seems to keep time but the mechanical rotor is very noisy after first fix and they did not fix it second time. need to get them on phone for RMA which took about an hour each time and this last fix took 6 weeks. The first fix cost me 15$ plus shipping.

would not recomend them.
