Guys, please post here if you too have problems with your watch. I am not so much upset with Woot, as I understand things can't always ship to me like I am royalty or something. But Casio customer support today was CLUELESS and said I have to pay shipping back to them, I can't even use plain old mail, it has to be registered or whatever.
Woot has kindly replied with great courtesy.
I spent several hours playing with the watch on and off during my day to see if I could get it to free up, even gently tapping it, just slightly, mind you. What wasn't working on it and is still buggy is that the watch came "uncalibrated" positionally. You see, your setting digitally/logically has to agree with where the hands are, and my hands were way off. After reading the manual three times and talking to the joke of tech support at Casio (I had to explain the instructions to the support agent there, HE was confused!!), and laid the watch down, made some tea and cooled off. An hour later, after tapping it a little and repeatedly following the same proper procedures, the two hands, the hour and minute hand, finally started turning. But then would only adjust to "home" in the fast sweep mode, not the increment by increment mode. That kept me from getting them right at 12 as it is next to impossible to time when you let go and it stops at the 12 o'clock position. I spent another half hour (yeah, stubborn me!, I really need a watch!) and I finally got the incremental adjustment of all three hands.
I don't know if mine will stay working or not though. I will "watch it" (no pun intended) to see how it behaves for the next few days. Hopefully, Woot will consider a nicer watch next time they offer a Casio. It's a neat idea, even if it is ugly (like I have said, I am that typical dork with NO fashion sense), but if they ship broken, what good are they? If they are so cheap as to malfunction this way, that is, maybe they aren't worth selling? I don't know, just asking.
Any of you who are determined like me that see this same problem with the hands not positioning properly: Keep trying, it might take hours of fuddling, it did for me, but it seemed to help, though I am not sure it is permanent.
