No view finder = no deal. Like my Nikon, LCD needs to be swivel and a view finder is necessary for those shots taken in direct sunlight that wash out the LCD - IMO.

Go look into the price of the proprietary Li Ion battery packs. You can get a set of 4 2800 mAh AA batteries for 10 bucks versus $40 - $60 for a 900 or so mAh proprietary battery..

I waited to get a digital SLR until one that could use AAs hit the market..

I considered it, but apparently this thing sucks batteries like crazy.
