You’ve really got to shop around these days. It’s your money; take a minute to make sure you’re not going to have to uninstall your OS and buy a new one right off the bat, y’know? Take this eMachines Athlon 1.8GHz Desktop Computer, for instance. Great machine, right? Sure, it’s a refurb, but it’s got tons of room for music, documents, and the like. And best of all? No Vista! None of that “free temporary upgrade” business, either. I got the real deal: Windows 7.

Sure, it’s not the best machine to try and run Call of Duty, but you know some people use these things for productivity, right? Plus my machine’s NVIDIA GeForce 6150 SE graphics are more than enough to handle the occasional time-wasting trip to YouTube or Kongregate

I’ve got a DVDr/RW Supermulti drive and I can rip and burn my own CDs so I’m freed of the tyranny of Top 40 radio. I’ve got nine, count ‘em, nine USB 2.0 ports so I’ll never need a hub, plus five audio jacks. On top of that, I’ve got this handy multi-card reader: SD, MMC, MS, MS Pro, xD-Picture, CompactFlash, I can pull files from any of ‘em.
