A two pack means you never have to fish alone. Especially if you're in charge.

"You're sure Jake asked for these?" Michelle said, her right eyebrow raised far above her left. "Our Jake? The kid who once tried to revive the dehydrated husk of a worm he found on the sidewalk by carrying it around in a glass of water for a day?"

Tim shifted uncomfortably in his chair as he looked over the website of a popular fishing spot he'd found on the Internet. "Well, he didn't ask ​so much as he strongly implied that he'd like to have them. It was hard to say no to that level of implication."

"Uh huh."

"Besides, you know how kids are nowadays. It's not cool for a boy his age to get excited about stuff anymore. Gone are the days when a child might run up to his father and say, 'Dad! Will you buy this 2-pack of 30-inch Zebco Penguins of Madagascar Rod & Reel Combos so we can go fishing together and make memories that will last a lifetime?'"

"I see. So I take it Jake wasn't the one who brought the poles to you."

"Gosh, will you take a look at this picture? The only thing bigger than that catfish is the smile on that kid's face! Honey, take a look at this."

"Okay, he may have just glanced over them in the store. All I did was pick them up, notice that they had kid-proof line guides, adjustable drag, and floating handles, as well as came pre-spooled with six pound line, and ask Jake if he ever thought about going fishing."

"And our son, who, if you remember, sits in sad silence every time we go to a seafood restaurant and he sees someone order one of the lobsters from the tank in the lobby, said yes?"

"He shrugged. But it was a very impassioned shrug, I assure you."
