In looking at my records, this appears to be my 14th (I guess technically 15th) Bet on Cold. 22 Ordered, 8 denied. And it's my 41st order from Woot since my first one in January of 2005. That qualifies me as a long-time Wooter, right? So it certainly won't be my last.

Well, what do you know? My extra special Bet on Cold part 2 arrived 2 days early, and quite true to the name, I might say. It included::

[list]

  • a HDTV antenna
  • A set of Manchester United Seat Covers (what country are we in again?)
  • A comforter, Bamboo Pillow, and inflatable sleeping bag (will be good when my wife kicks me out of the house for ordering this crap)
  • Tea infusers, measuring cups, and copper frying pan (see above)
  • Size XL boxer Briefs, a Santa shirt, a waffle insulated shirt, a swim wrap and what appears to be a dog hoodie.
  • a Manicure set, a home eyebrow removal kit and a detangler hair brush
  • a TV cleaning brush
  • a baby play ball
  • a woot plushie that looks like mustard
  • a CD of Christian music
  • a Green Bay Packers cup and straw combo
  • chargers for a fitbit flex, I think
  • some monkey toy that doesn't appear to do anything except one annoying sound
  • a woot calendar
  • 1 quart of greasy bouncing balls (I put them in a quart ziploc bag, that's why I know)
  • and an electric powered snow thrower.
  • [list]

    So yeah, basically a bunch of crap. But I'm excited I was chosen, and yes, I can use the snow thrower, probably this weekend- because I don't think we're done with this winter quite yet. My son has laid claim to the fun stuff- the cup, balls, shirt. And I was actually looking into buying one of the bamboo pillows, so the package is definitely worth what I paid for it, and for the fun in opening it.

    THANKS WOOT!!!!

    My son and I made an unboxing video, if you'd like to join in the excitement (and see why I will never be picked as a Youtube influencer). Enjoy!

    Hi, Everyone!

    I checked and checked the post office website for a few days, and my January Bet on Cold never showed up as out for delivery. So I was extra disappointed for it to unexpectedly arrive on my porch on a cold rainy night. I opened it to find:

    4 bags of Texas air (much warmer than my current air)
    1 paper “?” bag
    1 set of white vinyl polka-dot wall decals
    1 green Woot! monkey
    1 crappy ice scraper
    1 medicine bottle magnifier
    1 silicone cylinder soap mold (that’s a tongue twister!)
    2 HTC M9 purple phone cases
    1 purple Amazon Fire case
    1 Kindle Voyage case
    4 Shirt.Woot! stickers
    1 brush and comb set
    1 2017 Shirt.Woot! calendar (The pictures can be used as decorations in my classroom!)
    1 XL sports mask
    1 “Attack on Titan” bag
    1 book called “Rocketship” (looks like kid/teen fiction)
    1 Shirt.Woot! holiday “Santa Paws” paper craft (cute)

    And lastly,
    1 random metal thing with a hanger that I have literally no idea on earth what it could be used for in real life….Now it is my Woot! monkeys’ new monkey bars. The bottom photo is my new green monkey with red and blue friends from my previous Bet on Cold’s!

    My chihuahuas decided not to make an appearance in the photos this time…They were too utterly disappointed.

    Thank you, Woot! This is always a lot of disappointing fun! I’ll be counting down the 31 days until I can try again!

    Of course the most-desired item among my friends was the bouncy balls! All my friends were asking for a few. How could I refuse? we literally got a quart of them. (I filled a Quart Ziploc bag to the top) I also was able to put the dog hoodie to use as I have a friend who does doggy day care.

    Snow is predicted this Wednesday so I'm super excited to try the snow blower! Woot!

    More like a "Fakerling". It was in a "Happy Monkey" packaging, did not look like the authentic Fingerling packages I see online. It might be low on batteries, but as they're button batteries and not a AA battery, I can't replace them as of now.

    ThunderThighs wrote:Let's all cross our fingers and hope that the snow blower actually works!

    well, sortof. I took it out yesterday in our snowstorm to try it, and nothing. messed around with it, tried a few different extension cords, nothing. Assumed it was DOA.

    Took it back inside and started disassembling it. Eventually managed to figure out that the powering mechanism is really poorly designed. You're supposed to pull a handle to turn a button to push a switch inside the power box. Problem is that the handle is made from Plastic, so it flexes when you pull it, so it manages to move the button far enough to TOUCH the switch, but not far enough to ACTIVATE the switch.

    I found out if you squeeze the handle as close as you can to the fulcrum, you can usually get it started. so that's something.

    We're expecting more snow this weekend, so I'll try it again and see. And this summer I'll see if I can have my Father-in-law CNC a more sturdy handle. That should fix it properly.

    Yikes! I was so disappointed by my box forgot to post pictures! Here we go:

    * Orange-brown curtain panel
    * 2x shirt woot holiday papercraft
    * 2x 2017 shirt woot calendars
    * 2x shirt woot sticker sets
    * Crappy ice scraper
    * French press coffee pot
    * CoffeeWorks pour over coffee dripper
    * Green-caped monkey
    * Wire spice shelf
    * Comb/brush set
    * 2x silicone flower cupcake (?) molds
    * Plain black shirt
    * Mystery part

    The mystery part looks like it belongs to a printer (maybe it covers an unused tray slot?). Here's a side view:

    It's hollow and light and the gray side is just a blank rectangle. Ideas?

    Not sure what to do with the coffee stuff as I don't drink it and I don't live in 2017, so those calendars are less useful. My daughter snatched the shirt, so at least someone's happy. I dunno, TT, I had just about convinced my wife these things were okay, but this was a little too disappointing. :P

    Nah, I'm a sucker for hard-to-snag Bet on Colds. I'll be back
