SSD drives have basically no moving parts. Basically.

Moving parts are most of the reason why the computers of old had to be very still and very consistent with their design. If you tilted an '80s style hard drive just a tiny bit, all the moving parts got all freaky and the computer had to be restarted. It took a long time for that to be changed, and even then, stuff still could get weird. Imagine using a CD-ROM drive the way you use your iPhone! There's no way!

But it's cool now that we're reaching the place where laptops (like this Chromebook) are using the same sort of technology that's in your phone and watch and smart shoe and whatever. While we don't recommend using this laptop as you jump out of a plane, you're still going to have a much greater range of movement than a 1982 laptop might offer. That's the magic of SSD.
